Welcome to Dude, Where's My Shark!

You probably know that many birds fly great distances to spend winters in warmer climates. For example, birds from all over North America fly for hundreds, even thousands, of miles to winter in Central America or the islands in the Caribbean Sea.

You might even know that whales swim thousands of miles through the oceans every year. Some spend summers in the colder waters near Alaska but travel thousands of miles south to have their babies in the warm waters off the coast of Mexico.

But, you probably did NOT know that sharks do something very similar because scientists are only just now studying this!

In this game, you, the marine biologist, have tagged a shark using a tracking device. Now, your job is to track it as it swims through the oceans on its yearly migration path.

Simply "spot" your shark as it surfaces as many times as you can. To do this, you must come in contact with the shark while it's surfaced (viewable on screen). If you do this successfully, you will see a green check mark in the calendar to the right of the screen, and an orange breadcrumb will appear to mark the location where you "spotted" the shark. You will track and spot the shark for one 12-month period, which won't necessarily start in January. Once those 12 months are over, a "DONE" button will appear and you can then wait for other players to finish or you can click on it to see your results.

There are 5 sharks to track so keep an eye out for them in the various chat rooms that have bodies of water like Beach South.

Here's a useful tip for playing a multiplayer game: You can hold down the ALT key to click in chat to move over top a spot where someone else is already standing. This actually works in all the rooms in Whyville!
