PANDEMIC

"Alice Adrienne Brown," A deep, heavenly voice boomed. I spun in every direction, looking desperately for the source. "Y-yes?" I stuttered in fear, not knowing where I was. I tried to fly, to escape, but my ankle was tied to the ground. I tried to break it, but it bit me. A snake. I spun again, desperately looking for a way out, when Rowan appeared in all of his angelic glory. "Alice," He whispered, pressing his hand to my chest. I sighed in relief, but that's when it started. It burned and stung as he broke through my skin and ribs, getting a firm grasp on my heart. "No, please," I begged hoarsely as his burning, stinging touch engulfed my entire chest and spread to my limbs. I felt a pressure on my chest, and I realized he had a firm hold on my Immortality Charm. "No! No! No!" I struggled, trying to wriggle free of his grasp on my very essence. I heard it snap, and all was silent after that. Darkness surrounded me, and I was numb all over, except where Rowan had placed his warm hand. "I love you to death," He said slyly. Cold air whipped around me, and I screamed in agony. My last noise in this world

My eyes snapped open as Dad wrapped his hands firmly around my shoulders and shook my entire body. "Alice!" Mom screamed, pulling me from the bed and embracing me. "Mom, what was it like when you went entirely immortal?" I asked her bluntly. She looked at me and sighed. "I had an epiphany in my trance," She muttered. "What was that, might I ask?" I asked again. "Well. . . I love you and your father more than anything, which is why I stopped fighting for my life and ran away to be banished from the human realm. . ." Her voice trailed off as she fell to the floor, unconscious. Dad lifted her from the ground and shook her. "Monique, don't you dare die on me!" He hollered, pressing her frail lips to his wrist. He opened her mouth and pushed her teeth deep into his wrist, flinching and looking weaker and weaker while she regained consciousness. She groaned in agony. "The. . . The pain. . ." She moaned weakly. "What? What pain?" He asked, lifting her to press her lips to his neck. "There's a beating heart inside of me. It isn't mine! It isn't mine!" She thought painfully. Dad's face twisted in confusion. "How can you tell?" He asked quietly. "I hear it. Listen," She instructed, pulling away and pressing his head to her stomach. He listened in awe and amazement and a wave of jealousy washed over me. "How is that possible?" I asked angrily, a tone too bitter for my mother's liking. Pain shot through her face as she leapt from the window, being sure not to hit the ground and damage her precious 'baby'. Dad stared at me angrily. "That's the reasoning behind my energy flow going to her, we wanted another baby, Alice. That, and she can't survive without it. There is no way you can be around your sibling if you act this way," He muttered as he turned and fled out the window after my mother. I heard her distant sobbing and tuned her out. She's just a whiny pregnant lady.

When I went upstairs, they were laying there looking almost human. They were on the floor building a cradle for their new gift. I gagged and both of them turned to look at me. I heard the heartbeat, stronger than before, beating anxiously, waiting to be on his own. His? I walked over to Mom and put a loving hand on her stomach, being careful not to damage the life inside. "Boy," I whispered. Dad looked up at me in shock. "A boy? How do you know?" He asked, staring up at me in confusion. "All males have an energy around them that I can sense, stronger than that of a girl. This boy's is stronger than Mom's, meaning that he will be just like you. Mom, I suggest naming him Adrian," I said to both of them. She smiled softly. I suddenly loved my brother more than anything. I would love him, protect him, and be there for him just like Mom and Dad would. I have a duty to fulfill as his big sister; Being his protector. "Yes, that sounds quite reason- -" "Mom, there are two heartbeats," I interrupted. "There's two girls. They both have a nice aura about them, they're as peaceful as the stars. That's why the energy was stronger," I said, analyzing the beats. "Wow, Alice, accuracy must be your thing," Dad said, "I just heard the second now that you pointed it out." "Celeste and Stella," She whispered, the first two names off the bat. "Alice Adrienne, Celeste, and Stella Brown? I love it," Dad whispered, kissing Mom delicately on the forehead and smiling. "Then it's settled. How am I getting the twins into the world?" She asked, fear tingling in her voice. "I figured the same way we got Alice since it won't hurt you in the least bit," Dad admitted. Mom gasped. "No! I will not endanger the lives of two babies to take a chance!" She screamed. He laughed. "They'll age normally if you really want them to. I won't age them in the slightest," He promised. I knew he meant it. "Okay," Mom agreed shakily. I had no idea she could be reasonable.

Monique

Alice went out to go for a walk and said she would be back in a few hours. I stared at Adrian, who held his eyes closed, though I felt him in my mind comprehending everything running through it. "You don't have to worry, Monique. I love you, Alice, Celeste, and Stella. I wouldn't let anything happen to you four," He said softly. I closed my eyes and sighed heavily as his fingers traced my facial features. He pressed his lips against my cheek and sighed gently, keeping my hand in his. "Absolutely amazing," He breathed as he pulled away, eyes still closed. "I love you," I whispered breathlessly. He smiled softly and looked at my stomach. "When are we doing this?" He asked, motioning towards Celeste and Stella. I shuddered and he stared at me. "We don't have to, it might be harder, but we don't--" "When I look like I've swallowed a pickup, then I can go attempt suicide off the side of a cliff," I said quietly, staring him dead in his eyes. He kept a menacing stare, trying to probe an answer I didn't want to give out of me. "I'll hit you with a flaming shovel, back off," I growled angrily. He laughed. "I wouldn't doubt it, you killed two mortals for my sake," He joked. I looked at him and glared. "I don't think it's funny. I killed my mother for you and Alice, the least you can do is take it seriously!" I screamed. I felt a sudden tinge of heat in my chest, as if it were going to explode. "Monique!" Adrian clamped a hand down on my arm. "You teleport! Amazing!" I looked about the familiar house and stared at the stairs. This was my home at one point, before I screamed that I hated Gisselle and went to meet my destiny. I stared at the door that was once my room, now a dark, bare room in the large estate. I felt a warm hand clamp down on my shoulder, too weak to be the grasp of my kind, and gasped in shock.
