Autumn is beautiful,
Beautiful colors surrounding you,
Perfect leaves floating down,
A crisp smell to the chilling air,
Relief, at last, from the hot summer,
Wind blowing your hair back,
Chimes tinkling in the distance,
Animals burrow into the ground,
Waiting out the coming winter,
And, finally, the first snow.
Winter is beautiful,
Snow drifting from a gray sky,
Red cheeks and noses,
Snowball fights erupting everywhere,
Snow angels crowding the white ground,
Snowmen waving hello from neighbors' front yards,
Snow days announced on news programs,
Bringing smiles to children's faces as they rush out the door,
Warming cups of apple cider or hot chocolate,
Until the thaw begins.
Spring is beautiful,
The sun peeks out of the clouds it's been hiding behind,
A soft drizzle,
Green stems that will bloom soon poke out of the dirt,
A floral smell to the warming air,
Winter's final goodbye,
Summer's first hello,
Animals crawling out of hibernation,
Bare feet on wet grass,
Birds greeting the day once again,
The anticipation of school's end.
Summer is beautiful,
The joy of a long vacation,
Screams of joy and fun everywhere,
Gardens overflowing with flowers,
The splash of water as someone dives into the lake,
Shouts of "Marco!" and responds of "Polo!"
The current score of the little league game echoing across the town,
The bounce of basketballs,
The crack of a metal bat against a baseball,
The thump of a soccer ball being kicked,
Colorful signs announcing yard sales,
Kids jumping through sprinklers,
The worry of the next school year,
As vacation days tick off.
