Author's Note: I know a lot of people will disagree with this article, and please do not attack me for being religious. I respect other peoples' opinions, and I hope that all the other readers will also do so. I would like all of you to note that I know that Whyville is not a particularly religious website and that I understand that.
There I was, taking my y-mail helper test, trying to pass, when I come across the question, "If I don't have a Why-Pass and I didn't include a valid email address when I registered for Whyville, how can I recover my password if I've lost it or had it stolen from me?" I had eliminated two of the four answers to choose from, so there were only two left to choose from. The options were: "Pray" and "There is no way to recover my password". It's fairly obvious which one they want you to choose.
I'm not going to say which one I chose, but I will tell you, that "Pray" is considered the wrong answer. I would consider it correct! For those of you who are also religious, and believe in God, you will understand. It's only common sense! If you sit there, do nothing, and say, "There is no way to recover my password. I'll just give up." It's true that there really is no way to get your account back.
What if you pray? If you pray, God will hear you. He will try to help, if he thinks that's the right thing to do. God works in mysterious ways! If your account was stolen, he may help the person who stole it from you, have mercy and give it back. If you just forgot your password, God could give you a dream that may trigger something in your mind, and you will remember your password. Those are just examples.
I cannot say that praying was or was not the right answer, because everyone has a different point of view! Non-religious people may say that praying will not help the situation, and religious people will disagree. Neither can be proved correct or incorrect. Nobody can prove that God exists, yet none can prove that he does not exist. It all depends on what you believe.
Is it really fair to have those options? If there is the option to pray, then that's what I would do, and I would hope that God would help me. Use your common sense: What would get you somewhere in life, giving up, or praying?
