Josh

Celeste growled angrily, and I immediately heard the light, musical footsteps that could only be Alice, and the graceful, slower steps of Desiree. Alice stood a few yards behind me, waiting to jump in and fight if she had to. Celeste missed her chance to get me, and I took a chance. I stepped towards her and she stepped back. My heart took off and she turned to run. She screamed and Alice applauded behind me as I darted off after her. Alice and Desiree were behind me, and Celeste shrieked again. "I'm not fighting anymore! Please, you have my parents, two of my three siblings, please!" Celeste begged. Alice darted in front of me and held me back. "Celeste, if you promise not to fight anymore, we won't kill you. You can join us, if you really want," Alice said, voice strained because I was pushing against her to get past her. "Thank you, Alice," Celeste whispered.

Alice

When we joined Aimee and Joshua again, they were in the middle of a kiss yet again. "I can't stand being near you two," Desiree hissed in disgust. Aimee looked down in embarrassment and Joshua laughed softly to himself. Aimee pulled away from him and Celeste laughed. "Desiree, you should've seen your grandparents. They were unbelievably clingy," Celeste said between laughs. I nodded and elbowed my sister in the ribs. She pounced and Josh immediately went to pull her off of me, thinking she had turned on us. In all reality, it was sisterly love.

Celeste, Desiree, and Joshua could pass for triplets, and Aimee could be an adopted daughter. Desiree danced about with humans as if she was one, while the rest of us were cautious about it. She underestimated her strength, how her eyes glowed a bright orange that became red as it got closer to her pupils. Humans would see that, she would be our downfall.

We would have to destroy her if she came home late with bright eyes. If she came with human energy radiating about her, she would be a threat, she would have to be permanently subdued.

When Desiree finally danced through the door around twelve, she was grinning like a little girl. "Mom, look!" Des held out her hand, and a beautiful diamond bracelet dangled on her wrist. "Desiree, it's beautiful!" I gasped. Aimee and Celeste immediately came to investigate, and Aimee embraced Desiree. "Oh, Des! You've finally found someone!" Aimee cheered, and we all smiled warmly. Mariposa snorted, and we all turned to look at her. "Something the matter, Mari?" Celeste asked, her temper flaring. "Just the fact that I'm just about ninety years old, Leslie lost track about fifty years ago, and the Reapers are finding love before us," she spat bitterly. Celeste was immediately in her face, and before we knew it, Mariposa and Leslie were both outside. "Don't come back," Celeste hissed. We were too happy for Desiree to care about Leslie or Mariposa. Celeste's heart took off, booming and sounding like gunshots in her chest. A light surrounded her, and Josh immediately pulled us all back. "I knew your mother would do something wrong!" Josh hissed. Celeste was Living Dead and Angel, because of Rowan's abilities. I screamed as her eyes went from brown to orange and her body morphed and contorted into the most different shapes.

Josh and Joshua stood in front of us, taking their crouches as if to restrain my sister. Aimee and Desiree were hovering in the air just behind them and about three feet above them, and I was in front of Aimee and Desiree. Celeste snarled and her heart was louder than cannon shots. "Someone needs to stop her heart before the police come and discover us!" Josh hissed. I froze in terror. I tackled Celeste to the floor and she shrieked a growl at me. I was ripping into her chest, desperate to find her Immortality Charm. I paused for a second, not breathing, not moving at all, wide eyed in fear.

She didn't have an Immortality Charm. There was nothing there. What could she be, if she wasn't Living Dead, Angel, Demon, or even Reaper?

Josh and Joshua kept her held down, Aimee and Desiree helped. Celeste's teeth clenched down on my arm, and I hissed in response. I flew off of her faster than any of the others as I held my arm, desperate to keep the poison from spreading. "Josh, the bite!" I hissed. He ran to my side and the most horrible pain shot through my chest. My arm fell to the floor, and I hit him in the back of the head with my foot. "Idiot!" I snarled, and stared at my arm in shock. It was dripping a pale gray fluid, and Josh yanked it back up and pushed it into my waiting socket before it would heal that way. I twisted my arm, and "tested it's strength" on the back of Josh's head. "Hey!" Josh shouted. I laughed, smiling brightly at him. "I was testing it," I teased as I pressed myself into his chest, looking at his face the entire time. He leaned down and kissed me, softly at first, but didn't pull himself away. I was so lost in his arms, I couldn't pull myself from him. Aimee growled and shrieked at Celeste, "You idiotic monster!" I reluctantly pulled away from Josh to see her staring Celeste dead in the eye, nearly pressed into her chest. Joshua sat on the floor, holding his arm, shocked as blood dripped from it. I gasped because he wasn't looking at his arm, he was staring at Aimee, so interested in her that it could only be love and admiration. Celeste's heart stopped as her chest shut itself, and we stared in shock. Celeste was staring at us all, and the rage stopped with her heartbeat. I didn't question it as I turned back to face Josh.

But he looked down at me and kissed me softly, then darted out of the door.

"I'm sorry, Alice, Joshua and I will come back. Take care of Aimee, she's going to be extremely torn up about this," Josh thought to me. I hissed in response, and he laughed. I restrained Aimee as she tried to go with them, and she cried out in response to Joshua's thought. "Aimee, I loved you, but I can't stay anymore. I don't love you anymore, Aimee, I don't love you at all." I froze, knowing he had to be lying. Aimee didn't know, and I couldn't tell her. She crumpled at my feet, sobbing and letting tears stream down her cheeks. I embraced her, crying myself.

My Josh may never come back to me. I watched my life crack and start falling apart, the threads holding the quilt together snapping and unraveling.

Desiree danced away, chasing after them before the sound trail vanished.
