Summertime is finally here.
Put my old Ford truck back in gear.
Take a left on the interstate, cut to the right.
I can see the carnival lights.
No more early mornings
When the night drops in.
Reunited with a forgotten friend
That you have not seen in a while.
You love this time.
It's hot sand underneath your toes.
All the stores don't even think to close.
Boys skip a heart beat.
Running around the field with bare feet.
True love is finally found.
Crickets singing in the background.
You can't see anything but the stars
On a night this clear.
Loose jean shorts with bikini bottoms underneath.
Tapping your foot to a church psalm beat.
Laying out under the sun.
Party all-nighter when the night comes.
Catching fire flies in the country.
There's nothing better than your company.
Listening to a old tribe story only 100 times told.
You like your lemonade nice and cold.
Look at the great blue sky, there is nothing better.
No tiny rain shower can ruin the weather.
Holding your hand and I rub my thumb against your skin.
Your hand around my waste, nervous and thin.
A smooth kiss shared by the fire.
Your touch makes my heart go haywire.
A cool summer breeze.
No more of those color changing leaves.
Listening to my favorite song on the radio.
Everyone singing along to lyrics they know.
A coke bottle rolling on the floor.
Can't get enough fun, just craving for more.
It's you.
It's me.
It's all of us.
Looking so fine.
It's summer time.
