I started to wonder about Charlie, his attitude. I mean, he just didn't seem like himself. I started walking home. When I got to the door of my house I realized that the windows were closed, the lights weren't on, and the door was unlocked. I opened it thinking that Dad just forgot to lock it. I was wrong. Way, way, way wrong.
"What are you doing here girl?" someone hissed.
"Yeah, what you doin' here?" someone else asked.
"You know. This ain't your house to break in and take people hostage," someone said and immediately after a man, who I guessed was in charge, slapped the other guy across the head.
"Shut your mouth up Dave. She might be a police officer."
"Well Joe, I don't think a little girl like this one will be."
"Shut up you two. Just take her hostage Dave," said a guy.
"Hey! You ain't in charge Gage. I am."
"Fine, Joe you tell Dave what to do."
"Dave, go take her hostage."
"I don't have anything."
"Then go find something in the kitchen you moron!"
Dave went to go find something to take me hostage. I should have just screamed and ran, but I couldn't, my feet wouldn't work with my head. I toke a good look at all the people in the room since I couldn't run. Joe, the person in charge, was a very ugly man. His face wasn't shaved, at least the part that wasn't covered in the black sweater. The rest of his clothes were black also. He was defiantly someone that dropped out of high school, he still looked like a high school student. And Gage, he was the same as Joe. They were like twins. I didn't get a chance to see Dave, because by the time he got back he had already got the rope and was about to tie me up to a . . .
"Sadie? Help us!"
I heard a faint cry. Mom. Dad. They had taken them too!
"Gage, go make them shut up!" Joe ordered.
Gage ran down the hallway into my parent's room.
"Why are you doing this to them?!" I asked panicky.
"Why am I taking your parents hostage?" Joe asked.
"Yes, why? They didn't do anything to you!"
"Oh, you're Aden and Natalie's child, Sadie."
"How . . . do . . . you . . . know . . . that?" I managed to spit out.
"You'll be surprised about how much you're supposed to be dead. Your parents disobeyed the law."
Somehow, I just couldn't gasp at what Joe was trying to tell me. I don't know anyone else besides Charlie that was like me. I just found out that there was someone else, Matilda Jane Myers, that was like me. Did Mom and Dad know that I have powers? They couldn't. Unless, they finally wondered why I have straight 100%'s in all my classes. Maybe they demanded Charlie, I mean, Charlene and he had to tell him everything. But, why does Joe know who Mom and Dad are? How does he know me?
"Can I talk to my parents?" I asked Joe. "Before you guys tie me up."
Joe lifted his eyes up towards the ceiling and looked around--thinking. I desperately wanted to know what he was thinking! I focused on his brain, but I couldn't. That has never happened before. Am I slowly desperately dying?
"Fine," Joe spit out, "You have ten minutes."
I nodded and Joe led me to where my parents were. He pushed me into the room and shut the door.
"Sadie," Mom breathed, "I'm so glad you're alright!"
Mom was tied up to a chair. Her wrists were behind her back tied with a very thick rope, and Dad was tied up to a chair right next to her in the same position. I went over to sit in front of them.
"Why and how does that guy know who you guys are and I am?" I asked them.
Mom and Dad looked at each other. Their eyes staring lovely at each other then they both looked at me.
"Sadie, your mother and I have a secret that you might won't to now about," Dad said and looked at me the same way he looked at mom, except he added, "We really love you."
