"Mama,
Why did we have to leave,
When everything seemed
So perfect?"

My friends cried,
As we walked away
Trying to find a home
Just for the night

Ladies walked up to us
Thinking we were her customers
You carried me away
Away from the ladies
Who just asked
If we were her customers

You set me down
Next to a dumpster
It smelled like rotten cheese
But I just held my nose

You hit the top of the dumpster
One time
Two times
Three times
Four times
Five times
Until a happy lady looked down on us
From her window
Up so high

You gave me a sweet hug
And picked me up
And carried me to the front door
Where the lady was standing
Waiting for you and me

A home isn't always
A place you know
But it can feel
Just as sweet
As a place you've lived your whole life
