A Pretty Whyville No More

Hi everyone, this is girlyleo reporting about the new sickness going around Whyville.

It was just like any day in Whyville: people were chatting with their friends, playing the games, and picking their nose as usual. Or so I thought, until a girl wearing strange red dots on her face appeared at the pool. I thought they were freckles, so I went about my normal routine in Whyville. Then a friend told me that the girl had the Why-disease!

At first I thought he was jokin, but then when I went back to the pool I saw a few of my friends with red spots on their faces and sneezing a lot. At first I was amused... then I become sad and horrified, because they couldn't talk easily and they didn't look their normal pretty selves.

I was curious about what was happening with them. I saw others were curious as well, so I decided to interview a few of them -- through their constant sneezing I was able to decipher their answers and bring you an in-depth look at this Whyville disease and how it's affecting the people who have it.

Okay, here goes:

Me: Do you think there is something linking all of the sick people?
Sherry: No, I think I just had it
HotStuf5: Is this part of the interview? Because City Hall is mean.
Sweetthng: Either because we're oldbies or we're on a lot.

Me: Have people been treating you different because of your disease?
Sherry: Everyone is asking questions and some people are sayin I'm ugly, LoL.
HotStuf5: They are being nice.
Sweetthng: That people pay more attention to me now whether its pity or ridicule.

Me: Have you noticed any differences in the way your friends are treating you because of the disease?
Sherry: My really good friends are acting the same but people I know just a little bit are staying away from me.
HotStuf5: NO, they aren't but they keep going, AWWW POOR YOU!
Sweetthng: My friends are treating me with a lot of sympathy that I don't usually need...

Me: When was it that you learned about the disease?
Sherry: When I got it.
HotStuf5: I learned about it yesterday. At first I wanted it, but as I learned more about it I didn't want it anymore, but then I got it.
Sweetthng: When I signed on to Whyville late Wednesday night.

Me: Did you know that Whyville would be giving the disease to you?
Sherry: NO.
HotStuf5: No, I kinda thought I'd get it because I was talking and sitting near some people who had it before I learned it was contagious.
Sweetthng: No, I did not.

Me: Do you know why they (City Hall) picked you out of so many?
Sherry: NO.
HotStuf5: I don't know why they picked me & I'm mad that they did! >=(
Sweetthng: I have no idea; I guess I must be special or very very bad..

Me: Do you think Whyville gave you the disease as a way of punishment?
Sherry: No, I think its just to see how it will spread.
HotStuf5: I don't think its punishment I think its just there way of showing us what its like in real life.
Sweetthng: No, I do not

Me: How does it make you feel having this disease?
Sherry: It's a little annoying.
HotStuf5: I don't like having this disease because I cant talk because I sneeze ALL the time and I look ugly. =(
Sweetthng: At first it was cool because I was one of the few that had it but now I'm annoyed by it.

Me: How are you coping with it?
Sherry: I'm trying to be as nice as I can when people are asking questions, but it's kinda getting old.
HotStuf5: I'm coping with it by ignoring and hoping it will go away soon!! *crosses fingers*
Sweetthng: Its very tiresome now because of all the questions asked about the disease and how I got it and defending myself from people who are ignorant and rude..

Me: When did you notice the spots and what did you think when you saw them?
Sherry: I noticed when I came on, at first I thought something was wrong with the bus because I changed right away and it wasnt there but then when I went to the Pool Party there it was. Someone told me to look on the bus menu for CDC, so I looked it up and learned that it's a real Whyville disease.
HotStuf5: Well I noticed the spots on AnGeLbAyB, and I thought they looked cool so I went shopping for them (LoL) because I thought they were a pick your nose thing, but when I couldn't find them I went back and asked her and she explained it to me.
Sweetthng: I noticed the spots when I signed on and saw myself on the bus and I thought, OMG I'm hideous!

Me: Do you want others to get the disease so you're not just one of the 20 with it?
Sherry: Yeah I want people to get it so they can see what it is like.
HotStuf5: I don't want anyone else to get it because then Whyville will be sick and gross looking and no one will be able to talk!!!
Sweetthng: No, I wouldn't wish this on anyone... well, maybe my worst enemy, LoL.

Me: How long do you think it will last?
Sherry: A few days I hope.
HotStuf5: I don't know how long it'll last, hopefully not long, some people think it'll stay until every1 in whyvilel gets it!!
Sweetthng: Hopefully not much longer..

Me: How are you treating the people that are curious about your disease?
Sherry: Answering questions and being as nice as I can be, LoL.
HotStuf5: =S Well I just tell them to go to the CDC thing on their bus menus. I'm sick of saying the same thing 19,000 times.
Sweetthng: I treat the people who are curious about the disease with kindness and answer there questions, but I'm not nice to the people who treat me poorly because of it..

Me: Did you do anything different the day before you got the disease?
Sherry: No, just came on as usual. I didn't do anything different that I know of.
HotStuf5: Well, I noticed that a few people had these ugly dots. LoL! Like I said, I went shopping for the dots! LMAO!
Sweetthng: No, I did nothing different, did the usual changing my clothes and talking to my Whyville b/f and my Whyville friends.

I hope you've all found this in-depth look at the disease and those who carry it not only informative but entertaining as well. This is girlyleo signing off. Until next time, byez! :)
