Hey all, Lilbeaut here with the "buzz" on the newly ended Olympics. First, I'd
like to say, WAHOO! Great job everyone. Just to get to the Olympics deserves all of our awe.
We end the Olympics with Germany in 1st with 35 medals and United States in
second with 34 medals. Very close call. The United States' goal was 20
medals... but we (I'm from the U.S.) beat it by 14 medals. Too bad we couldn't have won 2 more.
Russia and Korea were threatening to pull out of the Olympics for what they
said was being robbed of their medals. Korea had been disqualified, some
think unjustly, in many ice racing competitions. Although 19 year old Apollo
Ohno won, possibly because Korea was disqualified, he was disqualified himself. Either way, both countries did wonderfully.
The real Cinderella story was Canada and the couples ice skating. Many were
almost positive that Canada had been jipped. Russia's pair fell two times and still received gold. The Canadian couple did a perfect routine and kissed the ice. The crowd already picked its winner. Suspicions were aroused and investigations took place. A judge was found to have taken a bribe from another judge. These
judges have been kicked out of all judging. Canada, being totally fair, just
wanted a gold. Russia could keep theirs. The Canadian skaters did not want to
penalize Russia for something that was not their fault. Canada received their
gold, Russia kept theirs and justice was found.
They had the ending ceremonies on February 24th from 8/7pm CST to 11/10pm CST. It was a
festival of lights with music by Kiss, *NSYNC, Willie Nelson, and many more!
There were 800 children of light, which symbolized that there is a light
in us all. There was a festival of ice skating, which was very interesting.
It starred Kristy Yamaguchi and many other gold medalists. They were all very entertaining. There was a great show of fire works. There were appreciation awards to people such as the mayor of Salt Lake.
What I found very interesting was the getting ready for the next winter
Olympics in 2006. There was flag dancing... which I guess is an old Italian cultural performance (Italy is where the winter Olympics
are to take place in 4 years). There was modeling -- everyone knows Italy is the home of fashion... at least I'm sure the girls do. LoL. There were pictures on the ice of famous buildings and paintings in Italy. It was beautiful,
amazing, and breath-taking. They really put a show up for the ending of the
amazing gathering of countries from all over the world which we call the
Olympics.
I'm very proud of every country. Just for the people to have gotten there...
wow. It's a really cool thing. THE 8TH WONDER OF THE WORLD! Not really, but what I mean to say is, this year was truly amazing.
