i walked the narrow streets at night and saw you, for the first and probably the last time.
the tangled threads of my mind
the lonely paths of my heart
dreaming.
where are you?
i saw you once before,
the air was thick
the streets were full.
leaning on an old brick wall
i stood there
waiting.
you were not alone that night.
people clusters mingled,
sauntered through the narrow streets
laughing.
i looked up once and saw you there.
you were standing close to me.
my heart, confused,
fluttered.
i was with a group that night
just like you were
but mine was busy
and we moved on
quickly.
i saw something in your eyes
for a moment,
but that moment passed
as i looked behind,
walking.
were you trying to talk to me?
i think we could've been best friends
if i had a chance to know you.
cheerful voices in the dark,
murmuring.
i've never seen eyes like yours.
they looked into mine
wondering.
who are you?
