I clicked sign in,
You were online.
I said hello,
Not for the first time.
We talked for hours,
Though we never have met.
But that would all change,
Soon but not yet.
Finally the day came
When you would enroll in my school.
You were a year younger,
But you were no fool.
You sent me a picture
Through instant messenger.
You didn't look hot,
But I folded the picture up,
And put it in my pocket.
When the first day of school came,
I hunted you down.
I examined every grade eight,
But none looked like the picture.
I suppressed a frown.
I got on the bus after school,
And listened to those around me.
Suddenly I hear your name spoken!
I turn around and there you are,
Sitting in the seat across,
Tapping your knee.
I poke you in the arm,
And you look up to see
That it is really me!
Now that we have met
You seem to avoid me.
You say your afraid.
But I can see that you remember those days
Before we met.
Those days when we were introduced,
Through instant messenger.
