Preface:

Jake and Isabelle had been on a few dates after he asked her out. Isabelle was the happiest girl you could have ever met. But Jake wasn't so sure. He felt as if there was more to Isabelle than he had been seeing, but never truly understood the emotion. He had never planned on really falling in love with her, but he began to think that was just what he was doing.

It was a rainy day out when Jake went out into the courtyard. Isabelle had switched her schedule to fit his, and she followed him out when she returned from the restroom to bring him inside.

"Jake? Hey sweetie! What are you doing out here? Come on, let's go inside," Isabelle said in a warm, loving tone.

As they went through the double doors, Isabelle noticed a poster on the wall. It was bright green and purple. She read it, and then turned to Jake, who had been staring out the window, thinking of Cara.

"Jake!" Isabelle said, pulling him out of his trance, "Look! Homecoming! Can we go? Tickets are 30 dollars, but I can pay for my own," she told him.

"Of course we can go. And I have just enough money to pay for both of us." Jake smiled.

Two weeks later, Jake drove to Isabelle's foster home to pick her up. He smiled as she opened the door, revealing what she was wearing. A dark green, slim dress that was absolutely stunning on her, but probably would have been a fashion disaster on anyone else.

"Beautiful, just beautiful," he said.

Isabelle blushed, "Not as handsome as you! Come on, we are going to be late!"

They drove quickly to the school, and then got out. They paid their entry fee and then entered. They saw their friends, and after a few minutes of conversations, Jake took Isabelle outside to dance. They twirled around, endlessly, Isabelle's flawless skin rubbing against his. Finally, when Jake went to dip her, he decided it was time to let out his feelings. He pulled her low to the ground and kissed her. It was the best moment of his life. He was a senior, and although it wasn't his first love, he now knew it was his only love.

Isabelle's eyes were wide. "What was that for?" she asked in a tone that said she wanted another one.

"I love you. Not Cara, she was more like a sister kind of love. I love you, like I want to marry you and stuff. I want to have a family with you someday. I want to be the guy at the end of the aisle waiting for you in that white dress. I want to be that guy, not that guy's friend. And I know if I don't take this opportunity to say that, I will become that guy's friend. Please be mine, you are my light, without you, I'm blind." He smiled, deciding to quote his little sister's favorite book, the cheesy one, with the vampire and the human girl, "The lion fell in love with the lamb." "And the lamb fell in love with the lion," Isabelle said, pulling her lips to his.
