Have you ever wondered why when you were new here on Whyville, you asked Grandma for some face parts, and all she gave you was really ugly stuff? That's because today's society has become too greedy and lazy to donate.
The point of Grandma's is for Newbie's to be able to have some face parts that aren't weird or anything. Good parts can help someone fit in and take away that "Newbie-ish" feel to the avatar, don't they? Well, I was wondering why Grandma can no longer work that miracle, so I hit Whyville's Woods and asked around. Here's the full response I got.
sqeakers1: Why do you think Grandma never has any good face parts for Newbies?
tickb00m: Cause people don't want to donate their good parts.
Miami24: Cause people don't want to give their good and rare parts away. They will give away stuff that's old, about to expire, or anything else they just don't want. But they don't want to give away even one good face part.
imahtboi9: Because Whyville doesn't give people the parts that are donated.
sqeakers1: Have you donated recently, or at all?
tickb00m: Yeah, all the time!
Miami24: Yeah.
imahtboi9: Yes.
sqeakers1: Have you ever considered how it would make someone new here on Whyville feel if they got a really good part?
tickb00m: Yeah, I suppose they would be happy, but if they were truly new, they wouldn't know the difference.
Miami24: Yeah I think they would be happy and appreciative. I once gave a Newb 1k clams and they couldn't stop thanking me. They said thanks like a million times. And 1k isn't even all that much for me.
imahtboi9: I think they would be happy.
So you see, my fellow Whyvillians, our online society is getting greedy. As you can see, these Whyville members feel the same way. So get out there and start donating things you don't need. I promise, it will pay off.
