Hey everyone! It's getting that time of year again; the leaves are changing, you are wearing sweaters now, and everywhere you go has the sense of fall. Well you know what fall means, right? Holidays, lots of them, too. And our closest one is Halloween! It's one of my favorite holidays, and although I like to spend time with my friends and just be me and crazy on that fun night, I'm also safe.

Yeah, you hear the word "safe". What's the word that pops into your mind? "Lame", right? I know. But I much rather be safe than having fun. Here are a few ways to stay safe but yet have an enjoyable time.

When you are going trick-or-treating, keep in mind, that there are people who take Halloween seriously, and I mean it literally. In my hometown, people harm others because it's Halloween. Terrible, I know. When you are going door to door, getting the free sweet stuff, make sure you aren't alone. Especially if you don't have a parent or someone older with you. If it's a neighborhood you have never been in before, make sure you have a cell phone, or one of your friends does. I know that some costumes don't have pockets, but you are probably holding a bag for your loot, right? Keep the phone in there.

Also, NEVER, absolutely NEVER, go into someone's house - even if you know them. It sounds stupid. You are probably thinking, "But I know them, why wouldn't I want to go into their house?" Well, it really comes down to how well you know them. If you have said, "hi," to the person once or twice, you don't know them, and shouldn't go into their home.

And when the night is through, and you're eating your candy, watch out and be wary. Some candies have wrappers that are in different languages. If you can't read what it says, or can't figure out what it is, then what do you do? No, don't give it to your brother and ask if it tastes funny. Throw it away. You have no idea what happened to that candy. And one last thing, please please please be cautious. If something is unwrapped, or you are allergic to it, throw it away immediately.

Listen to me, and you will be safe but yet still cool this Halloween night!
