Diversity: Not Yet Endangered

Giggler01

Okay, so I am determined to put an end to the problem of individuality. The other day I sat in the Playground talking to this person and I was looking around and I got to counting how many blondes there were, and how many brunettes and how many others there were. You get my drift, right?

Well, guess what? Out of the 23 people in the Playground, 11 were blonde. And that includes 2 guys, so it's not just girls. And I looked at each of the people and I thought about how they looked. And even though there were a lot of blondes, they all looked really cool, and none of them looked even the closest bit the same.

If that isn't individuality, what is?

There were three people wearing blue Tommy Hilfiger visors, but they all still looked so different. With the whole issue of individuality lately, we have done a lot of discrimination about how "everyone" is blonde because it looks good. The truth is, you can be blonde and still look different from all the other people in Whyville.

I wear blonde hair, but I wear punk clothes. I am very individual, but I still have blonde hair. So many people make blonde hair, but you can wear it however you want. Some of them are dark, some of them are light, some of them have a lot of texture, others not.

The other thing we have to remember in Whyville is that there is a certain limit to what we can buy for hair. There are only so many different kinds of hair, and everyone wants to wear the one they like best, so why not let them wear it? It's their style.

I went around today and I asked almost everyone I saw the same question: Do you think that your style is original?

Yes: 11
No: 3
Kinda: 2
I dunno: 1

I also did an interview with Prepsta and Wildfire9 about my subject. So now you'll have a girl's opinions and a guy's, and they both have blonde hair (or at least they did when I interviewed them).

Me: Do you think that you can be blonde and original at the same time?
Prepsta: Yes, and I don't like goths.
Wildfire9: Ya sure, I mean you don't need to be a goth freak to be original.

Me: Do you always wear blonde hair?
Prepsta: No, I do not always wear blonde but sometimes.
Wildfire9: I usually do. I actually have 2 blonde hair, and 4 red hair. I had brown hair for a little while when I was a newbie.

Me: Do you have a certain style (e.g. punk/goth/prepster)?
Prepsta: (the name says it all don't you think?) Yes I do have a certain style and I prefer the preppy look so I can remain stylish from the office to the couch and anywhere in between
Wildfire9: No, not really. I'm not into goth or punk because, no offence, they scare me. I really wouldn't want to walk around like that. (Not that goth and punk people are weird, their choice in clothes is.) I really just like what ever looks good on me. I don't care about what other people think.

Me: If someone says something about the way you look, do you care?
Prepsta: People have said stuff to me, but I don't tend to listen; a lot of girls think I'm hot, and I think I'm hot too!
Wildfire9: Well, it depends. Sometimes I don't pay attention when I get dressed on Whyville and I have my hand up my nose and lips in my hair. LoL. I wouldn't care if someone said something then, 'cause it was helpful. I mean would you like to walk around like that? But if I think I look fine and they said something I just give them the classic "whatever" and ignore them because no matter how I look, I feel beautiful inside.

Me: Okay! Thanks for your time!
Prepsta: Thank you for putting me in the Times!
Wildfire9: Ok, welcome!

So there you have it. We are all very different when you think about it. I think we should stop discriminating against blondes because they are humans too!

Until next time, this is Giggler01 leaving to finish drinking my toilet bowl cleaner (blue Kool-aid) that I put WAY too much sugar in. Bi Bi!
