Another Christmas has come and gone, now we are moving into the preparation for New Year's, taking down the tree, planning parties . . . boxing day shopping.

Well I don't feel like giving up Christmas quite yet. I decided to ask some very helpful Whyvillians some questions about their Christmas so I can share some of MY memories too!

So without further ado, here are the questions and answers!

ocean10kv: Do you celebrate Christmas? If not, ignore the rest of the questions but tell me what you celebrate instead of Christmas.

animals43: Yes I do celebrate Christmas.
gliterbox: Yes I do celebrate Christmas; though I also celebrate Hanukkah.
chrychix6: Yes, I do celebrate Christmas!
gabey: Yes, I love celebrating Christmas; it's my favorite holiday.
play2live: Yes, yes I do.
10000days: Yeah I celebrate Christmas, not religiously though, but with family.
bylanna: Yes we celebrate Christmas, we focus mostly on the CHRIST part but also we make memories and spend time together.
ocean10kv: Well OBVIOUSLY!

ocean10kv: Do you have any Christmas traditions? If so, what are they and did you do all of them this year?

animals43: Some traditions we have is that we all go out to pick the tree. When it comes time to decorate it, my mom makes us all hot chocolate/tea and we all decorate it together (me, Mom, Dad, Jenna, Nana, and Papa).
gliterbox: Usually my family's Christmas tradition is to have everyone go over to one house with way too much food, but this year my brother, mom, and I all decided to have our own little Christmas at our house.
chrychix6: We have a family Christmas Eve party, and then on Christmas day we eat Chinese food!
gabey: Usually for my Christmas tradition my family and I would always go out and look at the lights around my neighborhood after church but sadly, we didn't this year.
play2live: Every year my family gathers in the living room and we open up gifts and then we meet the rest of my family later for dinner.
10000days: Nope none.
bylanna: Our Christmas traditions are we make chocolate covered peanut butter squares. We also open presents from our family at night and Santa presents in the morning.
ocean10kv: We all go out and buy a tree (my mom, dad, sister, and me). We decorate the house the same every year and decorate the Christmas tree together. On Christmas Eve we go to my cousin's house for an hour to celebrate her birthday, then we go to church. After church we drive home in the dark and look at all the lights everywhere. Then we come home and set out some milk and cookies for Santa, open one present, then go to bed. On Christmas day we wait for our grandparents to come over and then we open all our presents. Then all my family comes to my house for Christmas dinner.

ocean10kv: What was different this Christmas compared to every other Christmas?

animals43: I think this year was different because this Christmas was a lot smaller than most years. I also got up later than I have in the past too, LoL!
gliterbox: This Christmas was pretty different. First of all, we had way less people. Secondly, everyone lowered the amount of money to spend because of the recession, so yeah . . .
chrychix6: Now that I am getting older, it isn't as exciting, but Christmas is meant to be a time that you spend with your family, so I like that it brings everyone together.
gabey: This was the first Christmas in a while that I saw my uncle who travels the world, and it was the first Christmas that I actually didn't care about what I got, Haha.
play2live: The excitement was probably at an all time low. It's not as fun getting practical things instead of cool games or toys.
10000days: I slept walk this year. I went to bed at 1:00am, and at 2:00am I slept walked upstairs, stared at the Christmas tree, mumbled something and started shaking, then I fell over and hit my head twice and knocked myself out. 10 minutes later I woke up and went back downstairs. PLUS I celebrated with my mom's boyfriend's family, and I love them so much, they love me and care about me and consider me family too. Lots of love for them!
bylanna: Well this year, instead of everyone coming to my house we went to my grandparent's house.
ocean10kv: We have a new kitten this year so we couldn't put out all of the Christmas decorations for fear of him wrecking them. Also, there were way less people at my house which was nice. AND my grandpa didn't leave the toilet seat up this year which means this year I didn't fall in!

ocean10kv: Do you attend church on Christmas Eve?

animals43: We don't go to church on Christmas Eve, though I don't know why, we believe in Him.
gliterbox: No, gladly I do not have to go to church ever. I only go to temple on Jewish holidays such as Yom Kippur, Rosh Hashannah, etc.
chrychix6: I used to, but not anymore.
gabey: Yes I went to church on Christmas Eve. I'm Catholic and I serve usually almost every Christmas.
play2live: No.
10000days: Nope.
bylanna: No, we usually do but, since we have such a big family together this year we decided not to.
ocean10kv: Yes, yes I do. It's my favorite part of Christmas Eve. Especially when everyone in the church gets to hold onto white candle and all the lights turn out and the church is alive with the wonderful glow of candles and we all sing "Silent Night"!

ocean10kv: What was your favorite part of Christmas this year, aside from gifts.

animals43: My favorite part of Christmas was there was no fighting this year. Usually there's a fight, typically between my grandparents, but this year there wasn't.
gliterbox: My favorite part of Christmas was probably the small relaxing dinner on Christmas Eve, and that we were able to listen to music and play competitive UNO games for almost two hours.
chrychix6: Spending time with my family, and all the good food of course.
gabey: Seeing my family is my favorite thing about Christmas almost every year because my aunt and uncle from far away come down and we're all together.
play2live: I think my favorite memory was seeing my dog run around the house in excitement from receiving a toy cat that she could destroy.
10000daysL: FAMILY, well not really family but mom's bf's family. Love.
bylanna: We all spent great memorable moments together that we will remember for years.
ocean10kv: Hmm, it's a tie between *not* falling into the toilet like every other year, and being mesmerized by the candles at church.

ocean10kv: What is your most cherished Christmas memory?

animals43: My most cherished Christmas memory was when I was younger, and when I opened my gifts, my mom saw my eyes light up with excitement, so hers lit up because she was happy I was happy.
gliterbox: I don't have many memories, but my favorite that I remember is when my brother and I were at my grandpa's house in Vermont. We slept (in a bed) together right in front of the fireplace and we were just so excited we couldn't sleep. Like every child . . .
chrychix6: Waking up on Christmas morning and seeing so many presents underneath the tree!
gabey: My favorite memory from Christmas would have to be the time when I was opening presents under the tree and it fell down, it was too funny.
play2live: I can't really single out any one memory, but I can say that I enjoyed Christmas much more than I do now when I was younger.
10000days: This year's whole Christmas, amazing and I'll never forget it ever!
bylanna: That my grandpa put bricks in the presents I really wanted and made me search the house for the gifts.
ocean10kv: This is a no brainer. The best memory ever was a few years ago when Christmas Eve was on a Sunday. We went to the church in the morning as well as at night. But after service in the morning, I went to go play in the snow behind the church. The church is located right in front of a forest . . . I ran to the back and almost ran right into a reindeer. It was a reindeer, like actually! I almost ran right smack into it! The reindeer kinda looked at me and we just stood there staring at each other. Suddenly my friends ran down the steps behind me, and spooked the reindeer and it ran away into the forest.

I hope everyone had a GREAT Christmas this year! Share your Christmas memories in the BBS.

Best wishes,
-ocean10kv
