Most of us have forgotten about our world. We're causing global warming, pollution, and other disasters. But, we still have one beauty left, our sky.
Whether you're looking at it in the morning, evening, or night, it is truly amazing. No, amazing isn't good enough, extravagant. Yes, it's extravagant. However, my favorite time to watch the sky is in early morning and night.
During the early mornings when the sky is still pitch-black and the clouds are faraway, look up and see if you can see all of the stars. If you're like me, your head will spin around until you get dizzy because you were trying to look in all directions to see the amazing sights of our sky.
Now, if you're not the morning person, go out once the sun is completely down and see if the sky is cloudy. If not, you should see millions of stars brightly shining up, down, right, and left. Just like the morning, it's breath-taking.
Lately I've been becoming quite interested in constellations, meteor showers, the solar system, and other things that tie into astronomy. You can even say I'm considering thinking about becoming an astronomer one day. But not an astronaut, no way am I shooting up in a rocket and puking 24/7.
But what I do want to do is be able to identify constellations. It's something you wouldn't expect from a girl like me; cheerleader, dancer, gymnast, always on the computer. But it's something I really want to do! And thanks to my parents, I can start identifying, some stars because for Christmas I got a planetarium. Planetariums are places built to show educational videos about astronomy. They normally are shown in rooms where the screen is either all over the room, except for the floor or it's in the middle of the room and the rest is so dark, you feel like you're just floating in the sky, like your own little star! Now you could be thinking, "Wow, your parents bought you a whole building!?" But no, they bought me a mini planetarium projector.
A planetarium projector is a console that works best when lights are turned off in a room. Mine happens to show constellations and pictures of planets and stars while using an audio system. It's awesome because if you use the part of the console that shows all constellations and where they're located in the world, it projects around the whole room!
That's a picture of my projector!
Now, you may be thinking, "That's cool! Let me learn more! I want a projector!" No worries, my friend, Whyville has their own planetarium that cost only 25 clams to access. (Such a little amount of clams, for such a big lesson.)
To get to Whyville's planetarium, use your destination bus to go to SkyScout. Here you will meet a man. Click on him once and confirm your buy for your skyscout by saying, "Skyscout". After that choose which constellations you would like to learn about, the zodiac signs or others like the Big Dipper. Finally, turn up the volume and have fun! I think you can even talk to friends while looking at each constellation, so if your friends don't read the Whyville Times, invite them to come soar the sky with you!
I hope you have fun soaring through the sky!
