Earn That Respect

I do have to say, I have noticed a lot more of those messages like:

"I NEED CLAMS"
"PLEASE GIVE ME CLAMS"

People, come on. I know that we were all newbies once and it really does stink for those who are, BUT, that still doesn't give you any right to bug others for clams. Since Whyville reached its milestone of 100,000 citizens, newbies have popped up everywhere. Part of being a Whyville citizen is earning your respect, and by earning your respect you need to pull yourself through your "newbie days". Believe me, I can look back on MY early days in Whyville and I just can't help but laugh. Back then, I'd do anything and everything for clams.

I ALWAYS begged people for clams, or cheats, or anything that would get me past this stage of Whyvillian evolution. I participated in "beauty contests" in the hopes of getting money. I think I even started a makeover company at one point.

So, for those newbies, keep working!!! You won't get anywhere by asking for clams. There are many good articles right here in the Times that give all sorts of helpful hints for newbies. If you just take 4 or 5 minutes, you can read through a couple and you will be a successful newbie in no time!

Now, for those "oldies" and "citzens".... Even though the newbies are new you can still be polite, we were ALL newbies once. We all had our low points. So, just remember your days of being a newbie. I'm sure you'll laugh about it and even share your experiences and tips with those newbie-beggers. You may just have the secrets they been waiting for. If we want to stop the frequent newbie-begging then we all have to make an effort.

Newbies, take my advice above; everyone else, just remember your own old days, and you might have some more respect for the NeWbiEs!!!

This is Megangel7... signing off!
