It is every Times writer's dream to win an award for all their hard work, but what happens when that dream becomes reality? I have been very lucky this week to be able to interview a nominee for Article of the Year and Comic of the Year and winner for Contribution to the Times, ocean10kv. She has 72 published articles, and in the entertainment section alone, 21. It is no surprise to me that she was nominated for contribution and showed true dedication to Whyville.

Laura4381: Why did you start writing for the Whyville Times?
Ocean10kv: I started writing for the Whyville Times because I love to write and I wanted people to read my work.
Laura4381: Have you enjoyed writing for the Whyville Times?
Ocean10kv: Yes, I have really, really, REALLY enjoyed writing for the Times! I love getting all the feedback on my articles!
Laura4381: So far, you have 72 published articles, are you making more?
Ocean10kv: 72 published articles? Wow! Haha, I didn't realize I've written that many! Are you sure it's not less than that? Yes, I am hoping to write some more as soon as I have the time. Right now my life outside of Whyville is pretty busy with basketball and homework but I'm really going to try start writing again.
Laura4381: What's your favorite article out of the ones you wrote?
Ocean10kv: My favorite article . . . well I guess it would have to be the Jim series because although they took A LOT of work to make, I enjoyed writing them. They were articles that I could just go crazy on and be as weird as I wanted to be. And it seemed like a lot of people enjoyed them so that just made it all the better.
Laura4381: How did you feel when you were a nominee for the Times Awards?
Ocean10kv: I felt so happy and excited when I found out that I was nominated for the Times Awards! It was actually my goal all along, to be nominated for at least one thing!
Laura4381: Were you expecting to win?
Ocean10kv: I wasn't expecting to win anything because I was up against a lot of other great writers but I was pretty happy when I did win an award.
Laura4381: What was it like after your first article got accepted?
Ocean10kv: After I got my first article accepted nothing really changed too much. I still wasn't recognized or anything when I went into chat rooms, but it did give me the inspiration to keep writing for the Times.
Laura4381: As a writer, do you have any tips for Whyvillians who want to start writing?
Ocean10kv: Don't try to please everyone with your writing. It's an impossible task. Just please yourself and most likely others will be pleased too. If you get an article published try to remember to keep an open mind to criticism because it will help you in the future. Also, NEVER GIVE UP! If your first attempt at an article isn't accepted just try again! Even if you submit . . . I don't know . . . say 16 articles? And none get accepted! DON'T GIVE UP! Just keep submitting more and more because chances are, you will start to realize what your writing is lacking and you will fix that. Pretty soon you will become a great writer!

It has been great fun interviewing ocean10kv. I would just like to thank her for allowing me to interview her, it has been a real pleasure and I am sure you are an inspiration to many Whyvillians including myself. You have inspired me to keep on writing for the Times and to never give up.
