Hey there! This is Giggler01, and I am watching my dad race around the
house. Good thing I reminded him he had to count today, but oh well. This is
really funny. But that isn't what I wanted to talk about today.
A lot of people lately have been asking me how I get my articles published.
And hey, it's not that hard! So today I want to give you a few hints about
how to get your articles published. Sound cool? (It had better, because it
sure is worth the clams!)
When I wrote my first article, it didn't get published. But that didn't stop
me. I love to write, and to have a place for other people to read my views
is great. So kept on writing. Lucky for me, I got my next two articles
published. I have been writing ever since.
I submit more articles then you good ever see published, believe me. So they
don't all get published, but the ones that do give me a chance
to look at my better writings and figure out what made them get published,
compared to my other ones. That's my first hint. I save all of my drafts.
That way, you can doctor it up, and change it before you submit it.
Make sure to proofread everything. That is really important, even though sometimes
I forget to (I admit it!). Make sure to look up words you don't know how to
spell, and make sure that you re-think some of the phrasing.
Don't write about stuff that you really don't care about. The articles that
I write that get published are all ones that I actually cared about. It
wasn't something that I just didn't care for. So make sure to include
original views in your articles. That is very important. But try not to be
negative. Those ones result only in fights, as I have discovered.
Asking questions gets people involved. It gets people inspired, because it
makes them think. Here is an example:
1.) "Today I would like to discuss hair. Hair is an important part of
Whyville because it plays a part in how you look"
2.)"What colour hair do you wear? Are you into blonde? What about brown? Or do
you prefer pigtails? Or buns? Well, any of these styles can make you look
good, and today I'd like to tell you why hair plays a VERY important in how you look."
See what I mean? Both said the same thing, but the first one got you
thinking, didn't it?
If you interview people, make sure to stay on topic, but don't make the
interview too long. That can make it really boring. Don't ask for only the
opinion of guys or girls, because the two sides can express important differing views
and make your story a whole lot more interesting, because of the way they think.
Try to relax a little. Not everything has to be serious; we are all children, after all (I was going to say kids, but I don't feel like being a goat, so if you prefer, you can be a youth). Make a joke about some things, to lighten it up.
So, those are my hints. You need to get 3-5 articles published before you
become a Times Writer, and having a title is really cool. I remember my
first article as a Times Writer. Ah the memories!
While I continue day-dreaming, this is Gigger01, chasing after my dad
with his briefcase as he pulls out of the driveway...
