As Sable stumbled home, drops of wetness were falling onto her skin and clothing. She frowned and looked at the sky, but then winced with a 'gah!' when some droplets flew into her eye. She looked down and yanked at her eye, trying to get the watery-ness out. By the time she was told with that, it was pouring down rain. 'Really?' she thought. 'It just has to rain right now. How many times does it rain after you get disappointed? So story-ish . . .'
But Sable pushed the thought from her mind as she grasped the handle to the orphanage. It seemed to be stuck. "Oh, great," she muttered. Locked. "I should have known. They always lock the orphanage doors after ten."
She sighed and sped around to the back of the orphanage, hoping that the back kitchen door was open. It wasn't. The door was normally left ajar, but it must have been closed for the rain; and whenever it was closed, it would automatically lock.
So now Sable was stuck outside. In the rain. With the thunder. Cold.
"I might as well find some shelter and get some sleep," she told herself, looking around her as she mumbled. Sable blinked when she saw a considerably sized bush. Then, wasting no time, Sable jogged to the place and huddled underneath. She was shuddering by now, what with the cold September wind.
Sable watched through the finger-like branches as she bit her lip. Secretly, she hoped some of the caretakers of the orphanage might open the door and go out looking for her. But she knew that that was highly unlikely, so she leaned back and let out a huge sigh.
Then Sable slowly fell asleep.

Sunlight filtered through the leaves and branches of the trees and bushes, dappling the uncared-for lawn. Little animals were scurrying through the never-cut undergrowth, excited to have found such a treat, for the other houses around had nice lawns where they couldn't hide.
Hidden among the undergrowth, however, was a girl. It was something that you would not commonly see -- in fact, in her place should be a chipmunk or something. But no. Something happened the other night; something that made her knock out cold.
Her name was Sable. And now, policemen were surrounding her and detectives were all around, scrawling and scribbling notes on their pads and comforting crying caretakers who felt like they didn't do their job. Yes, the girl was an orphan. And yes, she had a concussion.
