For the past week, I've been dealing with something every writer hates and goes through at one point or another, and that's writer's block. I couldn't think! With a blank e-mail canvas in front of me, and a soundless keyboard awaiting to be typed on, I just couldn't figure out something worth writing about.
I thought of everything I could possible think of! I even looked at some Whyville Times articles for inspiration, and read about writing block cures. But, still it was a blank. So I thought, about school. Yes, I know, why think of school? Well, I'd figure I'd count down until the school year ended and I got to enjoy the best thing in the entire universe: Summer.
I'd get to swim in the pool, and smell hamburgers smokin' on the grill. I'd get to play softball and tan with my friends. I'd also get to visit the ocean. And then, magically my writer's block disappeared at the thought of the ocean.
I remembered my favorite thing, the ocean. The long and endless vast of water, sparkling blue water. With it's life and beauty underneath the surface. The sun glistening at the top of the water. Resting at night, and splashing by day. Peaceful, soothing, amazing ocean. How I long for your cold, (but sometimes warm!) touch on my feet.
That sea breeze you draft on to the shore. The fright and fear you give to some. The fear of being moved out into your shallowly water depths, or the dangerous organisms that swim around near the shore. But I, not afraid of you. I love you ocean, forever and forever your beauty amazes me.
The life you contain, the beauty you hold. Although dangerous, I'm attracted. From the Atlantic, to the Pacific, to the Indian and all, I love you all. I know you well. Although I've only visited the Atlantic, one in which I am attracted to the most, you're all so fascinating.
I'll see you soon. It's only April so I shouldn't get my hopes up, but that's where day-dreaming takes it's roll.
