Interested in a creative, suspenseful book to read over the summer? I know the book you should read, then. It's called "Thirteen Reasons Why" by Jay Asher.
Here's a summary.
Clay receives a package in the mail with no return address. He opens the box to find that it contains seven tapes, each recorded with the voice of Hannah Baker, who committed suicide two weeks before. Clay listens to the first tape and discovers that these tapes are a list of reasons why Hannah has killed herself. Each person who receives the tapes is on her list. Clay soon finds out that unless he listens to them and then sends them on to the next person on the list, something will happen that could change everything. Clay travels the town with a map and the voice of Hannah as his guide and realizes how others' actions can cause a snowball effect on someone's life.

Sounds interesting though, doesn't it? In this book, you see the points of view not only of Clay, but of Hannah. You get two sides of a story, not just the side of the troubled girl. While Hannah tells her story, Clay gives his thoughts and opinions. He can also stop and pause the tapes as he pleases, whether to talk to someone or just to take a break from the overwhelming reasons Hannah tells him about.
Throughout the book, Clay is nervous for when his name will finally pop up. He wonders what he ever did to "win" a spot in "Baker's Dozen." He soon finds out the truth and it's not at all what he expected.
I'm going to warn you though, due to the fact that it is about the reason a girl took her own life, this book only appropriate for those age 13 and over. I highly recommend this book to teens because it's about an important topic that teens should be aware of. It's a great book to read if you want suspense and tragedy. It keeps you hooked and it won't disappoint.
Jay Asher wrote this novel creatively and thoughtfully. He captured my attention from page one, wondering what was going on and what would happen. Don't miss out on reading this one-of-a-kind book.
