Can your avatar really run faster if it has less items on it?
Have you ever seen an avatar go fast and try to figure out why yours doesn't? Perhaps you have too much on your avatar and it's weighing you down. I'm going to see if I can work out how fast you can go with the help of Kinematic Attic.
To start I made a prediction. I predicted that the less items I had on my avatar, the faster I would run. My brother, set out to prove me wrong, predicted that it wouldn't make a difference. I started with just a head. I went into the Bazaar and said "ruler". I timed myself running 300 pixels three times. After this I put 20 items (the maximum you can have) on my head and timed myself running the same distance three times. Finally I did the same thing with my usual avatar. After another three runs I calculated the average time for each set of three runs. To do this I took the scores of my three runs, added them together, then divided them by how many there were. So my times were as follows:
Head Only
First Run: 3.2 seconds
Second Run: 3.4 seconds
Third Run: 3.3 seconds
Average = 3.3 seconds
20 Items
First Run: 4.9 seconds
Second Run: 4.9 seconds
Third Run: 4.8 seconds
Average = 4.87 seconds
My Usual Avatar
First Run: 3.9 seconds
Second Run: 3.9 seconds
Third Run: 4.0 seconds
Average = 3.93 seconds
After I got my averages it was time to work out how many pixels per second I ran. To do this you divide the pixels by how many seconds it took. My calculations were as follows:
Head Only - 300/3.3 = 90.9 pixels per second
20 Items - 300/4.87 = 61.6 pixels per second
My Usual Avatar - 300/3.4 = 88.2 pixels per second
"So what does this mean?" I hear you ask. My results tell me that the less you wear on your avatar, the faster you go. So remember this Whyvillians, when you see a FFV and want to be the fastest to it, you know what to do. Just "bare" in mind that you may look silly!
