My Friends -- Opposites Attract

Giggler01

Well, I would just like to add my last few cents about a subject that has been tossed around a lot (and A LOT is A LOT). It's about acceptance. But this story is a very personal story for me. If you've seen me, Giggler01 around, you'll notice that my style isn't exactly trend-following.

Okay, my style is undecided. I tend to wear (on Whyville) things that mostly guys wear. I'm not afraid to be another color. I have been yellow, red, green, brown and black. I have been goth and most of the time I'm punk and I'm proud of that.

Well, that's just me. Some of my closest friends also have Whyville accounts. My friends are the greatest, I couldn't ask for anyone better. But their styles don't exactly follow my own. My friends wear things that are in style, or that make them look hot.

I have nothing against my friends, I mean, I've known them all since kindergarten. I think they all look great on Whyville, even though they don't follow my style. Why would it matter?

I think that if we judge people for what they look like on Whyville, we miss out on some of the greatest friends we could ever make. You may look at me, and even though my hair is blonde, I am punk, so you may think that stops me from making friends on Whyville. That's not true. I'll tell you about one of my friends:

Today I am going to tell you about Pinelope. That isn't her real name, it's her name on whyville. She and I are really competitive. We are always trying to do good and trying to beat at each other at school (Her words to me the other day were, "I think I'm catching up to you!"). I don't think we mean to be like this, but we are.

Okay, so that's my example. Compare our two clothing styles and you'll see a difference. But guess what? Even though we look different, we're a lot the same. And yet, most people would be more willing to talk to her, guaranteed. Why is that? To me, it doesn't matter what we look like or what we dress like. It matters who we are.

So just accept people for who they are! It's really easy, and Whyville isn't exactly the greatest place to judge a personality based on looks, believe me.

Well, I gotta go. I'm fighting with my parents again (it doesn't matter what I look like, I'm still a teen!). This is Giggler01, knowing that I'm right!
