Inseparable.
Of all the things they've called us
That's the one I let myself believe
And why not?
My heart lacked a hinderer
So I let myself believe
Inseparable.
As if it were a maternal bond
As if nothing could tear us apart
We would fall into dreams as we whispered of sweets
But words spoken through a receiver never quite reach the heart.
Inseparable.
According to our narrow minds,
if it always has been then it always will be.
According to those apparent lies,
I need you
and you need me.
Inseparable?
Ha. I suppose we were
But this beautiful summer has torn
I haven't seen your suntanned face in weeks
I've been sitting on a shelf
While you're sitting on the beach.
Still, I could say that I still love you
And it wouldn't be a lie
but "inseparable" has proven itself untrue.
Some things simply fade with time.
