We seem to flicker on and off like a lightning bug
burning so bright until we burst and erupt.
At times I swing between love or to unbind
either way I hope you'll follow close behind
but for now I've got my mind on California.

You have a way of looking so proud and so smug
when you know you're wrong you smile and shrug.
Still you shed a truth only I seem to find
so I hope someday you'll follow close behind
till then I've got my mind on California.

Though you're a man that can't be moved
there hidden in the corners of your mouth
I think there's something I could use
and I'd like to save a place for you.
So hear me when I say to come away.
Come away with me
California.

It's as if I see our bodies together from above
swept away in sunlight and the undertow tug
At times I swing between love or to unbind
either way I hope you'll follow close behind
but for now I've got my mind on California.
