Fall From Grace?

SkUmBaG68 -- what a perfect account to mail in his article from. Obviously, because he's one of the biggest scums that I've had the pleasure of not meeting. The article The Perfect Krime appeared in the Thursday, March 21, 2002 edition of the Whyville Times, and I laughed when I read it.

The summary of his article is basically: Hey, I'm a little dirt bag; and I'm not a very good hacker, but if you give me your password, I'll steal your account (so I can feel important because in real life I'm afraid to let my true colors show).

What's he so proud about? See, he's not even smart enough to be a real hacker. I mean, some people are so good they can actually hack into our accounts by trial and error or by spying on you and collecting little hints. Yet this guy is so stupid he can't even figure out how to do that. Instead he'll ask you for your password. Of course, that is considerably easier, proving that in real life he's probably a lazy, selfish person anyway. It's funny, how people will hide from their true selves on the internet, in order to make themselves feel important or successful.

So how does he get our passwords, really? He knows from experience that ugly Whyvillians AREN'T popular, AREN'T rich and certainly AREN'T the most experienced. He might offer to give you a makeover or raise your salary. Personally, I don't believe this is true, that people have given him passwords for this reason -- he probably just said this to improve his image as a hacker. And if he decides to write another article including the names of the victims that fell for this -- then I have one thing to say to him! PROVE IT!!! He obviously hasn't done very well with Whyville. Why would any beautiful, established, rich, popular Whyvillian waste their time sabotaging other accounts? They wouldn't, because they would be too busy answering whymail, shopping, playing, designing, partying or chatting. Obviously, this so-called hacker was snubbed by the highest form of Whyville society and is seeking revenge.

It takes time to perfect and practice appearances and games, so what does he do? Attacks people new to the site, knowing that more experienced members of Whyville have seen the countless warnings against giving out passwords. So Mr. X (our cocky little hacker), befriends them -- or even takes it a step farther. How, you ask? By making empty promises of love to unsuspecting lovers of his saying: "If you really love me, you will give me your password". First off, what a lousy excuse -- couldn't he think up something like: "I have a surprise for our wedding but I don't want you to see it so I'm going to need your password =)". There's another insecurity proven: he's never experienced love, otherwise why would he abuse it? Revenge, because he is heartbroken and forlorn, desperate because maybe he just been turned down by someone he likes in real life? I'd say so.

So what has he proved? If anybody wasn't aware of how he operated, well then they know now! Seriously, he thinks he was astounding us with his genius, when really we're sitting here thinking: thanks for the tip! LoL. So, for anybody who is considering giving out your password, thinking: "There's no way it could be the same guy/girl who wrote this article" -- well, HOW DO YOU KNOW?

We can outsmart these hackers. They really aren't all that intelligent to begin with. They prey upon the inexperienced; is that something to be satisfied and confident of? Apparently not, if I just spent my entire article insulting him/her/it -- talk about a fall from grace!

GoT Ta JeT,

Liss22... see ya 'round, SkUmBaG68, or if you're reading this from any of your other aliases -- wait, is that too big a word for you? Come on, I dare you to hack me -- the right way this time -- if you can handle the pressure...
