Days fly by like flocks of birds
That soar around in their v-shaped herds
Nights pass by like a shooting star
That was here for a moment, then gone afar
Time is precious - every moment good or bad
Because trust me, you'll surely miss what you once had
What was here for a moment will be gone in another
Most memories end up getting stuck in the gutter

Moments that you were never going to forget
Fall helplessly into the past's bottomless pit
It stores everything you long to remember
Yet most of its contents seem to surrender since
Time is precious - every moment good or bad
Because trust me, you'll surely miss what you once had
What was important for a moment will be nothing in another
Most memories end up getting stuck in the gutter

Look around and tell me what's left to show
Everything that you've been taught and will ever know
What will be important on your very last day?
What will you think of right before you pass away?
Time is precious - every moment good or bad
Because trust me, you'll surely miss what you once had
What was special for a moment will be abandoned in another
Most memories mean nothing, and are left stuck in the gutter.
