Why Do You Smile

Everyday when they laugh at you
You're likely to joke along
Although inside it hurts enough
You act like nothing's wrong

Why is that giggle escaping your lips
Why do you smile when embarrassment hits
Why do they think it's fun to be mean
Why do they have to be just like me

So secretive you keep yourself
Won't let anyone inside
Humiliation is scary to you
That's why you stay and hide

Why don't I understand your hurt
Why don't I stop the cycle
Why not just be myself for once
Why not just be like Michael

It's my fault that you are this way
Don't want no human touch
It's my fault and it's not okay
If only you would say this once

Why do you smile when I'm hurting you
Your feelings are pretty damaged
Why do you smile when I smile at you
Because mine is broken and bandaged
