I will admit, I am a bookworm. I have read so many books in my lifetime that it would probably take a whole library to hold them all. I recently read "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins. This is my review on that book.
It was absolutely amazing. The writing was perfect. I was never bored. I hated when I went to sleep at night because I couldn't keep reading it. I felt like I was in the book with the characters; that's how detailed the writing was. I felt the pain that the characters felt, the embarrassment, the happiness, the sadness, the anger - everything!
I recommend this book to males and females. It has the violence that guys love, but the romance that girls love.
Here are a few paragraphs telling you what "The Hunger Games" is about:
"The Hunger Games" takes place in a future time period after North America is destroyed, in a nation called Panem. In Panem, the Capitol is the richest place and the twelve districts (there used to be thirteen) that surround it are poor. Each district has something to give to the Capitol (District 11 is agriculture, District 12 is coal, etc.). Because of a previous rebellion against the Capitol, each year two people from each district - a boy and a girl - are chosen as tributes to fight to death in a giant outdoor arena controlled by the Gamemakers. People throughout Panem get to watch the Hunger Games live.
Each person age 12 - 18 in each district is entered into a giant draw. When you're 12, you get one slip in the draw; when you're 13, you get two slips in the draw, etc. Primrose Everdeen has been entered into the draw for the first time in her life and is chosen to participate. Her older sister, Katniss Everdeen, volunteers for her.
The male chosen from District 12 is named Peeta Mellark; he onced saved Katniss' family by giving her free bread - her family was starving. She doesn't know what she feels towards Peeta the whole time they are in the arena, and before they enter the arena. But a while before they leave to go to the arena he announces something shocking to all of Panem.
Anyways, that's as much as I'd like to tell you. I think any more information would give it away. You should read the books though. They're amazing!
