Exciting news! City Hall, with an eye on the population-meter and fond memories of Whyville's first ever Prom Dance two years ago, has announced that the second-ever Prom will be taking place this month, May 25th!
City Workers are programming and drawing and planning day and night to get the Sportplatz -- and three extra rooms! -- ready in time, as the population of our mighty city reaches the incredible number of 200,000! Are you ready to welcome the next 100,000 citizens with open arms and a HUGE party?
Who will be voted Prom Queen and King? Voting for prom royalty will begin two weeks before the event. You'll just say "vote so-and-so", just like at the Halloween Party last year. Boy nominees will be grouped under king and girl nominees under queen, and the Times will of course carry the current results. Voting will close midnight Whytime on Saturday the 25th, and crowns will be awarded so that the winners can wear them the next day. Also, while the Prom is going on, we'll hold a best costume contest.
Another hightlight: one lucky (and stressed out) City Worker has been given the task of finding some new music for the party! He says it's a real challenge to find stuff we can legally play in Whyville without having to pay big licensing fees. Read
Bettyjoe's article and my lengthy response to see what the issue is.
Are there any MIDI-making citizens out there? Would you like to have your music played during the Whyville Prom? Remember, it has to be original stuff -- you have to have be the artist who thought up the music AND who synchronized it into MIDI form. If you've got the skillz, email us at times\@whyville.net!
Remember, it has to be your music -- it can't be something you got from someone else's website, or from the radio! Plagiarism will be severely rejected.
Looking forward to this big event,
Times Editor
