There once was a girl
A poetess, she was
She was rather sleepy
But finish her work she must

She wrote her ideas down
And then crossed them out
She couldn't think up any more
And so she let out an angry shout

Then she realized her fatigue
And crawled into bed
And drifted off to dream land
And all the adventures that it had

She found herself next to a volcano
With dinosaurs all around
This frightened her immensely
So she dropped to the ground

She crawled behind a tree
And tried to wake up
But no matter how hard she tried
Her slumber would not stop

She slid from her hiding place
And grabbed a large tree branch
So if she faced a fearsome beast
She may at least have a chance

A pterodactyl swooped overhead
And made loud sounds
It was a fearsome sight
Her fear knew no bounds

The poetess gave a fearful squeak
And then out of the blue
She heard a mighty roar
And she knew what she had to do

She spun around to face
Whatever had made the sound
And there stood a t-rex
Looking at the human he had found

The poetess screamed
And crawled behind a tree
Even if it couldn't give refuge
She might not be seen

And then everything faded to black
The poetess found herself on the moon
She held nothing in her hand
She knew she would run out of air soon

Then she noticed a door
Right in front of her
So she opened it slowly
And walked into the fresh air

She saw lots of space suits
But not a living soul
Was the base abandoned?
This she did not know

She found a space suit in her size
And the poetess put it on
Then she opened the door back up
And then she tried to run

But all she did was bounce
Like she was floating on air
Because, she realized, she was
So venture away, she wouldn't dare

But then curiosity got the better of her
This was a dream, after all
She squealed and then did a flip
She knew that without gravity, she could not fall

Suddenly she looked up
She felt the air change
And there was a comet
Aimed at the moon base

She knew that soon
She could die
If she did not
Move and hide

And then everything faded to black again
The poetess found herself surrounded by kangaroos
And then she knew she was in Australia
And now she had no idea what to do

So she hopped
On the back of one of the beasts
And decided to go with them
In there trek east

She and her kangaroo
Bounced for miles and miles
And though her companion had no teeth
He was all smiles

And then he morphed into a terrific beast
With teeth to rip and shred
That could eat all the animals
That were sleeping in their beds

She was back with the dinosaurs
In that truly frightful place
How she longed for the kangaroos
For they were much more safe

And then the huge roar sounded again
And she knew she was being followed
So she urged her dinosaur to hurry along
So that they would not be swallowed

She and her dinosaur zoomed along
Dodging and weaving through the trees
But she could still hear the thundering footsteps
So loud it rattled her teeth

She realized her fate
And started to weep
As her little dinosaur slowed down
Over her head came the mouth of the beast

Then everything went black
And faded to a dark blue
She was in her room again
And she knew what to do

She picked up her pen
And began to write
Of all the adventures
She had had that night
