Whyville citizens, this is one of those moments where we can change Whyville for the better.
I get it. I realize I am the likeliest candidate for Senator. I do fit the requirements, and I have been a member and a marveIous designer of Whyville since 2004:)
The change we need does not come from Whyville. Change comes to Whyville. Change happens because the Whyville citizens demand it - because they rise up and insist on new ideas and new leadership, a new politics for a new time. Hence all the demand to find glitches, thinking Whyville citizens can improve Whyville, which in fact has made Whyville stronger, but by going about it and reacting in a wrong way.
Previous Senators have made a big election about small things, and those small things didn?t even happen.
And you know what - it's worked before. Because it feeds into the cynicism we all have about government. When Whyville doesn't work, all its promises seem empty. If your hopes have been dashed again and again, then it's best to stop hoping, and settle for what you already know.
We may not agree on the numerous glitches Whyville citizens have found, but surely we can agree on reducing the number of unwanted glitches. Perhaps Whyville can offer an incentive something of value, maybe some clams, pearls or a one month whypass to whoever finds a glitch and reports it immediately; that means not using/scamming innocent by standards before reporting the glitch you?ve found. The founder of the glitch can be posted on the home page with special thanks for helping to improve Whyville.
The Face Factory is in need of major upgrades. This has been an issue for designers as far as I can remember and it has been planned in almost everyone?s platform then and now that has run for Senator. I can assure you that AT LEAST an undo and redo button will be added!
As Senator, I will be sure to make improvements that you citizens want; I will make sure the changes are for the better and will not request things such as a new chat room that does not get used, perhaps we should delete the unused rooms. I will help out and guarantee you I will give my 110 % to the development of a new and improved Whyville.
To conclude we are here today because we believe that in our Whyville community, we have it within our power to say "yes" to those questions - to forge our own destiny - to begin the world anew.
We are here because we believe that this is our time.
Our time to make a mark on Whyville history.
Our time to write a new chapter in the Whyville story.
If you are willing to work with me and fight with me and stand with me this senator election, north and south, east and west, people who can vote for themselves and not follow the crowd vote for me, for the ones stressing out about transferring 500 + face parts to another account vote for me, for all the marvellous designers who has demand a new face factory but has not been accomplished by previous senators vote for me and for all my Marvelous fans VOTE MARVE, I promise you this - we will not only rebuild and renew our Whyville community, but you and I - together - will rebuild and renew the promise of Whyville. Together, our dreams can be one.
