I'm stumbling in a strange new land.
Holding on to the last small strand
of simplicity and clarity.
Looking for something tangible
to steady me in this expanse of disparity.
I'm been thrown into a game
and I know not the rules nor the name.
I'm losing by a myriad
and I don't know what to do
to regain what I once had.
Every line, every leap,
every word that I speak
cannot fair in this desolate new land
that has wrapped me in its chill, heavy shackles
and leaving me unable to stand.
I'm swimming against the current.
Flailing through the mud, with a serpent
plunging sharply after me.
There is no light, no reason,
nothing in this dreary, forsaken sea.
While in this land of troubles,
which has been the cause of my tumbles
and my stumbles, I have chosen to fasten
my mind on the good and to stop chasing
after all the bad that's happened.
After all, that's life.
