The chilling scream shattered the silence that had grown between Renga and Kayla in the hall. Without giving it a second thought, Kayla ran straight back to the room. Roza was still unconscious, thrashing around on the cot - sweat trickling down her face. Had that scream been caused by a dream/memory, or just being sick? "Is she okay?" The new recruit asked the med. The med only nodded, and ushered Kayla from the room.

Exiting the room, Kayla saw two girls talking to Renga. However, they left not too long after that. Renga was twirling the needle in his hands. "You should listen to her," Kayla told him, pointing to the needle and indicating the med. "They . . . or, we can't have a sick leader."

With a grunt, Renga slipped the needle into his arm and then injected the liquid. "There." Casually discarding it in the trash can, he returned his attention to Kayla. "You, on the other hand, should probably get an explanation. You're new, aren't you?"

"Yes," Kayla said, "I'm really confused." She finished, completely unaware that the two girls she had seen only moments before were now on their way to steal medical supplies.

"I took your memories." Renga told her, rather bluntly. Just as the words left his mouth, Kayla's gray eyes went wide. He'd taken her memories? Thoughts swirled through her memory vacant mind; what if she was taken here against her will? This whole time, she'd assumed she was safe here. Was she?

"You w-what?" Kayla stammered.

"I took your memories," Renga repeated while Kayla took a step back. "You told me to. Haven't you noticed yet that nobody really remembers their past? You, as everyone here, wanted a different life."

"Can you not tell me anything else?" She asked him, her voice shaking just barely.

"Like what?" He asked in return.

"Uh, well, what am I supposed to do?" Kayla asked. "I mean, everyone seems like they're doing something. All I do is sit around and wonder who I am. And maybe . . . Well, could you tell me who I was before? Why did I want my memories taken away?"

And so they went back and forth about a position for Kayla, Renga purposefully skirting around the subject of her past. Meanwhile, Alex and Alexis had returned from their mission. Both of them tripped, their lips just barely grazing each others. They both jerked away. "I'm a murderer, not a lover." Alexis whispered.

Pushing the incident to the back of their minds, they both walked down to Renga's room. Finding him in the hall way, Alex informed him of their success. "What now?" He asked, eager for a new mission. Renga chuckled at that, the three of them ignoring Kayla for the moment.

"Uh, hello," she said, wanting to introduce herself.

"Hi," Alexis said simply, giving a smirk that clearly said "Pft, a newbie." And so Kayla left, muttering to herself about odd people who take away memories and won't give a straight answer. Little did she know she'd be going on a little mission of her own.
