Hello Whyville.
While reading this, you are probably in the Whyville Waiting
Room, with nothing to do but sit and read articles until the site slows down
a little bit so you can get in. Am I right? Well, I am only writing this
article because I am stuck in the W.W.R. with nothing to do but make
attempts at drawing for my art project.
I discussed with a fellow Whyvillian
about why you can never get in the Whyville. She has been on Whyville for
about two years and explained that Whyville needs to make money in order to
keep their servers running and one of their main sources would be the Why-Pass.
The site's servers aren't big enough to hold the entire Whyville population
and according to my senior friend, shelly1, it used to crash a lot before
they put a restriction on it. So my friends, what can we do to help? I have
some ideas. Whyville was made to be a fun and safe way to learn on the web.
Personally, I think some just use it to chat. Yet, there are some
intellectuals out there that use it to learn.
Sooner or later everyone learns something from Whyville because you have to
play the games to get clams, and you need clams to be pretty and have lots
of friends! How superficial. It works though; it's showing you how it is in
the real world. Depending on how much you learn, you will get smarter and
richer and then you can buy all the cool Whyville things!
So we have determined that everyone eventually learns something off of
Whyville and those who really want clams take the Parent Consent Form and
show it and the site to their parents. The parents, agreeing that Whyville
is an educational place, sign the form and mail it to Whyville. My idea is
to take all these Parent Consent Forms and put them on record and show all
the major companies and ask for sponsorship. What company doesn't approve of
this higher level of learning?
We ourselves should send in these Parent Consent Forms. Maybe even start
fund-raisers! If you want to get into Whyville so bad, help them out a bit.
Buy Why-Passes, send in the parent consent forms, learn new things and start
raising money to keep Whyville online! You may not think that any of this
will help, but in the long run, it will. I can't wait to see the day
everyone on Whyville can go on. No more Waiting Room for us!
See you when I get on!
