I am rich. I am not snobby, and I do have poor friends. Everything to me is not about money. I like money, yes, because it gets me nice things. I would share with the world if I could. I like money, I am not obsessed with it. I am sure you, too, like money. Maybe you are rich, maybe you're poor. I don't care. If you're poor you're probably not a money-grabber and you're probably not wasting food stamps on candy and pop, if you even get food stamps. Let's not generalize the fortunate and the unfortunate. And maybe you're fortunate and poor. And maybe I'm not fortunate even though I'm rich. And maybe you have just enough money and you're both or one or the other. I still don't care.
Some people at school seem to think I'm a monster because I wear nice clothes and get nice shoes. I can be as nice as the next chick. Some people seem to steer clear of both rich and poor, but why? We're all just inhabitants in this world with some money. Whether it's one penny or one million pennies. Just saying . . . generalizing is the problem with a lot of people. If you're avoiding someone rich or poor or someone with just enough money (eh, normal money-wise?) stop. Unless you know for a fact (not by rumors) that they're disgraceful.
I am saying that it's hurtful. It's never a good feeling that because of something you can't help, you're being avoided. Same with other things . . . races, sizes, faces. Can we help it? Sometimes, but that's unlikely. My best friend is poor. Very poor. Do I buy her things? Yes. I don't waste my money on good things all to myself. Does she buy me things? Barely ever, because she can't afford anything. All her parents' money goes straight to their family, but you can't tell. Why can't you tell? Because they spend their money wisely. A group of rich girls I know find poor people to be greedy and pitiful. It's going to be funny when in twenty years my friend will be successful too and they'll learn their lesson, even though she'll probably never have as much money as them.
