My house should just be turned into a mental hospital, I swear! While I try
to escape my mom's big party (involves lots of talking and lots of laughing
every five minutes), I have decided to write an article about making clams,
but this one is different than the usual ones. I'm not going to tell you all about how to raise your salary, because there is another way to get your hands on some dough!
Bonuses!
If you go into your ledger in your satchel, you'll see it is divided into three
sections, one of which is the Bonus ledger. The Bonus ledger lists the different ways
that you can earn bonuses and how much you have been awarded if you have
received one.
So far, I have only gotten one bonus. I got a ninety clam bonus because my
team finished second in the 2001 Winter Solstice Safari. So, in June you'd
better sign up!
You can also get a bonus for having a Why-wise Parent. Basically, you take
your parents and show them around Whyville. Then, after you've finished
showing them all Whyville's great stuff, they can send in your permission
slip to say that you can chat. It can be found in your bus menu. I think
that this is mostly for kids under 13.
You can also sign up for racing, at the Smart Cars Arena (you should do it
just for fun, believe me!). If you are a top ten racer one week, and you
don't decline any challenges, then you will receive a bonus. Sounds fun, eh?
(I am now truly Canadian. I just said "eh"! I should be the first one to
enroll in my family mental hospital.)
You can also get bonuses for being a part of the Whyology survey, which
unfortunately is closed as of right now. I hope it will open up again soon,
because it sounds like something I'd like to do.
The last bonus isn't in your ledger. If you submit an article to the Times
and it gets published, you will get paid for that. (Please do not ask me why
it's not on the Bonus ledger. Could the Editor or someone could help me out
with that?)
Well, there should be a way for everyone to get quick cash now! This is your
official nutcase, Giggler01, signing out, and why the heck are they
screaming at me now?
Editor's Note: Yes, the Why-wise Parent bonus is primarily for kids 13 and under, but City Hall tells me it's great to hear from parents of older kids, too!
As for what you get paid from the Times, we're not sure what to call it. It's not really a one-time bonus like the things in the Bonus ledger, and it's certainly not a part of your guaranteed salary. Maybe one of these days we'll have a whole page in your Ledger for Times submissions and payments! That would be cool....
