"Betrayal", "Expiration Date", "Temperess" and "Bleak" . . . Who is the writer for these amazing stories that many of us have read and cherished? This writer has made over 70 articles that most have been rated five stars. She has written stories on her own experiences which are packed with emotions that touch every one of us. Who is this writer? This writer is sqeakers1. Sqeakers1 is a successful Times Writer and a kind person who I have chatted to a lot. Thankfully she was happy to answer the questions about writing stories so that you can also write incredible stories.
XxFUZZxXx: What got you into writing the series of stories that you have written?
sqeakers1: I've always been full of stories. Ever since I was a little kid, I'd have some kind of story running through my head. Whenever I find something that interests me, and I manage to keep it going for a while, I'll put it to paper.
XxFUZZxXx: How do you get topics that will interest the readers?
sqeakers1: In all honesty, I do not know. I don't really write for the readers. I write because I like the storyline and where I'm taking my characters. I just do my thing, and I guess other people like it too.
XxFUZZxXx: What's the best thing about writing?
sqeakers1: Showing the world what you're capable of. I think it's cool that I write for the Times, and knowing that someone out there is reading my thoughts, that a complete stranger is getting into my head is fascinating. Even though that sounds completely creepy.
XxFUZZxXx: What age did you start to write. Does it matter about what age you are to write?
sqeakers1: I started writing when I was 13. But as I've told many people many times, it DOES NOT MATTER HOW OLD YOU ARE! I cannot stress that enough! If you know how to hold a pencil or type on Microsoft Word, then you can write. Anyone can do it. It's easy and fun! There's no right or wrong, and in all reality, you write for yourself.
XxFUZZxXx: Have you got any tips on writing stories so that we can all get a boost to start writing like you?
sqeakers1: Just be yourself. Do what you like. If you like the way you are writing, then you are doing it right. The only real judge of your writing is you. Don't be too hard on yourself, accept compliments, but always look for reviews. Keep an open mind. Don't think that just because you managed to get something in the Times means you cannot improve. I've been writing for two years now and I still have a LOT of room to get better!
3 Tips on Making an Awesome Story:
1. If it's easier you might want to start out brainstorming to jot down your ideas, thoughts, characters, settings and any spare ideas that you might want to use. It really helps so you won't loose any good ideas.
2. You also could add in some past experience that you've had or a dream. These can be funny, scary, sad, surprising or happy. In writing you really need to mix up the emotions so the readers don't get bored of what you've written. For example, deaths can happen, celebrations, horrors and jokes.
3. Be yourself. Try not to make a story that you feel uncomfortable writing about even if everyone around you really wants you to. I've tried this before, and my story was an epic fail. I tried to write something that my friends would like but it wasn't what I wanted. So just BE YOURSELF like sqeakers1 said!
So who wants to be a writer/author now? I sure know I do. Writing lets me escape reality and experience my own world. We have many more writers on Whyville like kittieme, xoxkitkat, Anionett and so on . . . If you need any help in writing stories you might want to y-mail sqeakers1 or any other Times Writer. So keep on writing your stories and next week I'll be doing an interview on Narrative Diary Writing.
Until then . . . Have fun writing!
