Still About the Skumbag

Hey You Guys,

Wow, SkUmBaG68 sure got a HUGE response huh? As I was reading through all of the articles I noticed B00tybabe's submission and decided to take a look.

Well, please, let me defend the Editor's decision to publish SkUmBaG68! Ya, so what, there was a little cursing in his article, but face the music people, life is not a fairy tale and you need to realize it! Cursing is part of life and I think it contributed to the reality of the article. Could you see just HOW inconsiderate scammers are? You act like cursing is a crime! I myself didn't really notice it, but as the Editor explained, the shock value really did seem to give something to the article.

I do not have a problem with cursing in articles, as long as it doesn't get too out of hand. SkUmBaG68 did NOT use anything too inappropriate. I think we all know the limits. I personally think that the article did Whyville some good. I think it woke a lot of you up. Whyville, though it may be an interactive, sort of imaginary town, we ourselves are REAL, and we act accordingly. This place is not dreamland where everything is prefect, because believe me folks, we are FAR from that. I think some of you are starting to come around and admit to that fact.

I think it was very wise of the Editor to post the submission for all to view and I think it was rather stupid for the author to write it. He exposed himself and all the tricks of the trade, making us more aware of the reality that has crept up on Whyville and seeped through the cracks of online and real life.

So please people, don't question the Editor. Don't you think they do what they do for a reason? I'd think most of you would be intelligent enough to reason it out. I was quite offended when B00tybabe jumped on the Editor like that. Wake up and smell the coffee girl, this isn't some small-town, quiet, fantasyland, though some of you obviously view it like that, or at least want it to be. It is a large city, it is as real as real gets without actually being real. Whyville has grown! It is now complete with racism, discrimination, violence, cursing, cliques, money, scammers, disease, politics, fear, and anger. Although Whyville has its many good points, like everything else it has its bad points. It's not so much WHYVILLE, either -- it's the people that occupy it and their thoughts and actions. If we were different people, Whyville would be different.

People write about change and how we need to get rid of the racism and violence and cursing among many things. It's all well and good to write about these things, but we are all just as guilty as the next person if we do not ACTIVELY do SOMETHING about these things. None of you go beyond so much as to write down your thoughts. Well, okay yeah, great, but that's just going to go through one ear and out the other you know. What else are you going to do about it?

People aren't just going to wake up after one article and go oh, yeah, I need to change my ways. Actions speak louder than words.

Wow, I've gone way off topic. I think what I said, though, is valid and it needs to be said. I would like to bring justice here. I think my main point of this article is to think BEFORE you act or write. I am still quite angry that you just jumped on the Editor like that. Geez, this is their newspaper, they can publish what they want. Even so, they apologized and asked for your opinions on the cursing! I think that B00tybabe owes an apology. Come on you guys, the Editor did what was right, they were only trying to protect you and make you more aware. So next time, please think BEFORE you ACT.
