Hey guys, this week we're going into fashion articles. I've interviewed cohenlm, who has written many fashion articles, and kittieme, who wrote a fantastic fashion article titled, "Coming Soon?"
So here we have cohenlm and kittieme!
XxFUZZxXx: Hi kittieme and cohenlm, how are you doing?
kittieme: I am doing marvelously fantastic.
cohenlm: I'm fabulous!
XxFUZZxXx: Why'd you decide to write a fashion article(s)?
kittieme: I wanted to write a fashion article because I needed to write at least one article in every category to gain my Veteran Times Writer status, and fashion was a category I had not written in.
cohenlm: Recently, I've been getting into a lot of fashion. So, it only seemed to fit to start writing a few articles. (I don't have many now, but expect more in a few weeks!)
XxFUZZxXx: What's the secret on writing them?
kittieme: I think you've gotta appeal to a wide variety of people. I learned a lot from my article, and realized I should have probably looked harder for fashion designers that had clothing for more body types. The more people that will look at something and go, "Oh I could see myself in that," the more appealing your article will be.
cohenlm: I think the secret to ANY writing is to write things that interest you. If you hate science, then by all means DO NOT write about it. Your readers will feel your boredom and just click out.
XxFUZZxXx: Do you find them easy or hard to write?
kittieme: I found writing a fashion article difficult. I'm not much of a fashionista myself, (currently I'm in Mickey-Mouse pajama pants and an old softball jersey,) and I really didn't have much passion in my article. It was also hard because I felt like my topic wasn't all that original. It was tough; I have lots of respect for anyone that can write them well.
cohenlm: It really depends on the type of the fashion article. Since I'm fairly new to this category, they do tend to be a little bit of a struggle. However, with perseverance you can accomplish anything!
XxFUZZxXx: What's the most important thing about writing fashion articles?
kittieme: I think that all fashion articles should have pictures. If I can't see what clothing or style is being described, I'm not going to be that interested in reading the article.
cohenlm: I think the most important aspect of writing fashion articles is to make sure your writing about unique styles. The articles won't help anyone if you write about Hollister or another name brand store. You really need to dig deeper, so all of us Whyvillians can be trend-setters!
XxFUZZxXx: Do you have any tips for any of us who want to write fashion articles?
kittieme: I think that anyone interested in a fashion article has got to have a great topic, and good pictures. They also need to appeal to people, and just have fun with it!
cohenlm: Since fashion is so diverse, I suggest narrowing every article into one main topic. Don't skip around from the latest clothing trends and then randomly to how to paint your toe nails. Just choose one and devote time to finding quality information. Remember, you can also submit another article next week!
3 Tips for a Fashion Article:
1. Doing fashion articles you really need to have pictures to go with it to show the latest fashion, make up or looks. You can describe the clothes (if you're a really good at it) but really you need pictures!
2. Try to not do fashion articles on topics someone has all ready written about. There are many types of fashion but if you do the same type of cat-walk clothing or designer, readers already know what to expect. So get creative and search the web for some awesome clothes.
3. Have fun with fashion articles. These articles actually might even change your taste in clothing!
Thanks to cohenlm and kittieme. This is the last article of my series guys, but if you look out in the Times, you'll see my baking articles! I'd like to say thank you to everyone for reading my articles and to the writers who I've interviewed. Just remember always have fun while you write articles or stories. It's all about the fun!
Ta-ta!
