Censorship and Freedom

I've read BlackBox, Giggler01, and LilBeauty's articles (sorry if I forgot any others). From my point of view, there are two sides to censorship. One, the one restricting us from using a phrase or word. Then there's the censorship for crude language, racism, and others. There is a good side and bad side to both types of censorship.

I do agree with Giggler01 and LilBeaut's articles (don't worry, I didn't forget Blackbox). There is a fine line between protecting the younger children of Whyville and overprotecting us like most of our parents do. Whyville has gone too far with this part of censorship -- I do believe that we all should be able to say minor words. I am sure that all of the younger citizens have sometime in their lives heard some lil' words and phrases.

I know that we have to be watched and made sure that we're all safe, but banning minor words is plain pitiful. There are kids in grade 3 in my school that swear and curse worse then kids my age (13). Although some are just brats, we've all heard it. We all deserve some freedom. City Hall may be basking in her glory but it won't last forever. Some of us wish that we could have our own rules at times, but we know we can't have them all. We need City Hall, but we also need regular citizens to help City Hall realize what we are seeing.

Also, there is the other type of censorship, the one that I think the world needs most today. This type of censorship is without a question needed. As we all know, the world today is at war. Racism does exist. I wish it didn't. There are religious wars going on in Israel and other parts of the world. I don't know why people do this but they do -- I hear people on Whyville not necessarily swear or curse but be racist, sexist, and mock religions. Censoring that kind of stuff is what I think Whyville needs most. I think that all of this should be censored. Although I wish minor words would be uncensored, there is no reason for crude language, racism, sexist, and mocking religion. I do give the thumbs up on this kind of censorship.

I have a short story about something I witnessed in Whyville. It all happened at the SunSpot. I was standing on the roof when I saw two male and one female citizen. I am not sure how old the two were but I was sure one of the males was older. The guy was talking to the girl about a lot of sexually explicit stuff. To my knowledge, I believe that the male was trying to, well, seduce the girl. It was obvious to me that the female didn't know what the male was talking about. She started to ask questions about it. I was scared for her, so I did what I could only do, I reported the male, and City Hall decided to banish him for his behavior. This is the kind of thing I think we need censorship for.

You see these are some reasons why we need some censorship on more serious topics. Although we do need to ditch the filtering on minor words. If you understand what I have wrote please e-mail City Hall, or write your own article on what you thought of my first article. Cya ppl.
