My fingers travel along the edge
Of worn out jeans with a few frayed hems
Sunlight kisses the side of my face
And exposes my shadow next to me

Guess there are some things I just don't understand
Why we're all in this game without reprimand
How a few broken girls wear their hearts on their sleeve
As is love was their answer to everything

Here I am, taking in the damp of the floor
Shadow's beside me cos we both ran for the door
When I left him I guess he didn't know my intent
But when I?m here with my shadow I'm so content

Love's this game we're programmed to play
Woven into our flesh straight from the first day
And here I am, soaking up an abundance of bliss
Solitude has blessed me with the best kind of kiss

I look to the world; do they know how this feels?
What about the hearts of all those love-starved girls?
This loneliness grants me time to feed my ever curious mind
To rediscover who I was before love left my identity behind
