I have many fears. Crossing streets, plugging stuff in, spiders, losing my family, flushing the toilet, and recently, dogs. Plus a lot more. My fears got me thinking: What are people afraid of? I decided to interview different Whyvillians to find out.
DevilDayz: Do you have any fears? If so, what are they?
nntndodsi: Yes, I have a huge fear of leeches.
xodansxo: Losing my crush.
HotAlex4u: Yes, actually, I have quite a few. My biggest fear is my dad leaving me, and our house catching on fire again.
dogz9909: I really only have one fear, and that is possums.
BanjoMann: I'm afraid of dying before I get to live out my dream of surviving a doomsday scenario. And I'm afraid of Mick Mars from Motley Crue dying.
DevilDayz: What is the story behind each of these fears?
nntndodsi: When I was at camp we went into this river to find crayfish. When we were walking back I had 3 leeches on my legs. My stomach dropped and I was flipping out. I was trying to push them off but I didn't want to touch them, but I couldn't just leave them on there. I pushed all of them off at the same time and after that I was really paranoid.
xodansxo: I really love this guy.
HotAlex4u: Before I was born, my mother and father divorced, which ended up my mom giving me to my dad, basically abandoning me. My mom comes home every once in a while, but hardly ever; all of my five siblings have different dads, that aren't willing to take care of us. Day after day, I can see my dad growing even more depressed and angrier than ever. Sometimes, I feel as if he's just going to give us up for adoption. I just sit and hide in my room, praying he won't leave me . . . I've lost too many people.
As for my second fear, when I was around the age of five, there was an opening in the furnace, causing it to be more than just dangerous. One night, it caught on fire, catching the items around it to burst into flames as well. If it wouldn't have been for my dog awakening us, we'd all be dead. It took us over 10 minutes to get all of us out of the house, and to find an escape. I remember watching out my car window, with no shirt on, seeing the house just burn down in flames. As we were out in the country, the fire department took 20 minutes to arrive. Now, I unplug everything, and am very sensitive when something is left plugged in.
dogz9909: I live in a neighborhood where possums are EVERYWHERE. One night I let my dog outside for a bit, then I heard him start barking. I went outside to try to get him to come in, but he wouldn't listen. And it was very dark, so I couldn't see what he was barking at. I went and got a flashlight to see what exactly it was, and there it was, the FATTEST, BIGGEST, UGLIEST creature before my eyes. It hissed at me and came at me and my dog. I ran inside my house screaming and I have been deathly afraid of them ever since.
BanjoMann: I'm afraid of Mick Mars dying because he's my favorite guitar player. And the other . . . I've always wanted there to be some sort of apocalypse ya know'm sayin? I think it'd be a nice change of pace for the world if it were more like Fallout 3. I want to see how people would react. But that's just me . . .
DevilDayz: Do you think you'll ever get over these fears?
nntndodsi: I will never get over this fear. I'll be more cautious and eventually will get them stuck on my body again, but I am still paranoid when someone brings out the subject. Even when I was writing this I was paranoid. They just creep me out.
xodansxo: Nope!
HotAlex4u: With therapy, friends, and hope, I'm sure I'll be able to get over these fears. I'm that kind of person that relies on the positive, so I'm never saying never. It's possible to overcome anything, if you give it time.
dogz9909: No. I hate them and always will. Nasty little vulgar things.
BanjoMann: Probably not. God Bless America and Support our Troops!
I'd like to give a special thanks to each of the people interviewed. I know it takes a lot of courage to speak about your fears, so I'd like to thank them for being brave enough to answer. I'd also like to apologize if, like nntndodsi, those interviewed became paranoid while writing, or even if people reading this article became paranoid.
I'd also like everyone to pay attention to one particular quote: "It's possible to overcome anything, if you give it time." - HotAlex4u
If you ever think you cannot overcome something, please think of that quote. These ten words are
very encouraging.
Thanks for reading!
