Bob was an ordinary boy. He wasn't the smartest or dumbest or tallest or shortest in his class. He wasn't that messy, but not that neat. His hair wasn't as strikingly blonde as the sun, or midnight jet black like the night's sky. It wasn't even that dark fudgy brown or that light pale bronze. It was just brown. Plain brown. His eyes were not a brilliant blue, unique green or anywhere in between. They were brown. Just plain brown. Everything about him was plain. Plain as can be. You would never find a boy, plainer than he.

Bob always wanted to be different, like everyone else. The other kids at school were so original. Some wore fancy clothes to school. Some brought unusual toys. Some had exotic pets, played exciting sports and had interesting hobbies.

One day Bob decided to copy. He wanted fancy clothes, unusual toys, exotic pets and interesting hobbies too.

So one day Bob came to school dressed like a cowboy, the next like a space man, next a pirate and he even tried an alien from an unknown planet. It didn't make him feel much different.

He tried asking his parents for unusual toys. But they said he should be happy with what he had.

He tried asking his parents for another pet, a more exciting one, they said his dog Sandy was exciting enough.

He tried making interesting hobbies for himself. He tried collecting shopping dockets. He tried becoming a chef. He tried singing and dancing. Drawing and lancing. But it was all no fun for him. Maybe for someone else, but not him.

All Bob wanted was to be different.

So the next day he woke up and went to school as himself. He found being himself he was not like anyone else. Other people were there, all so different. They were they. He was he. He liked being himself better. Being himself made him different. He was like no other. You are you. I am me. And our little Bobby, is as special as can be.
