They creep inside your bedroom
They follow you at night
They watch you when you're sleeping
Their sole weakness is light
They cannot seem to be destroyed
You cannot seem to win
You can shut and lock the door
But they'll always sneak right in
You can scream and you can shriek
They will not leave you be
You will never truly be alone
They are your company
They come out in the daytime
They come out in the night
And even if you notice them
You cannot pick a fight
There is no way to stop them
You can run but you can't hide
You can't keep them from your home
They'll always be inside
The worst part is you know their name
They'll haunt you 'til you're dead
They'll make you wish opening your eyes
Wasn't something that you dread
The fact they have no face
Is the scariest of all
They are pitch black and omniscient
As they crawl across the wall
The fact you'll never meet them
Is a great, relieving plus
But there's no way to avoid them
Since the shadows are really us
