His words were short,
His eyes were grim
He could not see any other world
Except the one inside of him.
He was different,
And it tore me apart
That I could not awaken
His disconnected heart.
He wouldn't let me in,
So I kept talking
But sadly, I knew that eventually
I must stop knocking.
When I gave up, he didn't,
He found me feeling the same.
He stepped under the water with me
And finally cleansed the pain.
He ran his hand across my jawbone,
Raising my chin by his fingers
To lift my hanging head
For an amazing kiss that lingered.
I couldn't believe a boy could fix me
Like I'm the instrument and he is the tuner
I'm happy, but I can't help but wonder why
He didn't tune me sooner
