Whyville is a place for citizens of all ages. For citizens all around the world. For citizens who are black or white, this race or that. Whyville is a place for anyone and everyone. Whyville will accept you into its community no matter what. Whyville can be great for many different reasons. It can help you prepare for your life, and realize that you must put effort into life if you want to get the most out of it. It can also educate you highly.
For example: To get the exact look you want in Whyville, or a really great
house, you have to have money. To get money, you have to get a salary. To
get a salary, you have to play games. To play games, you have to figure out
many different things and exercise your brain. It's like work, or a job. If
you want to support yourself in Whyville, you have to work for it.
Whyville also gives you a chance to sometimes escape from reality, where things
aren't always right. Maybe Whyville can help prevent bad attitudes in the
real world, or better yet, prevent suicide, for the reason that in real life,
people can be put into racist groups from what they look like, or for other
reasons. Well, in Whyville, you make your own person, of who you really are on the inside, and from there on people should be able to judge you from what's in your heart.
Whyville also allows you to learn about many different people and their ways of life. You can do this by chatting with others. If you wish not to chat with that person, you can always leave the room, but Whyville has an even better way of preventing this. It is called the Whyville Watch Call Box. If someone is acting up, you can choose from four
different tools.
1. WARN: this tool is used for the least serious situations. If three people warn one citizen, they will be kicked out of the chat room.
2. SILENCE: this tool will not allow the citizen to talk to you, either for a short while or permanently.
3. VAPORIZE: this tool allows the citizen not to see you, and you will not see them. Also short or permanent.
4. 911 REPORT -- ONLY FOR EMERGENCIES. This tool allows you to report a citizen who's really causing problems, and City Hall will choose that person's consequence.
These tools make Whyvillians feel safe in their community. Whyville is just like another life, except that it's easier to deal with, and there are usually always ways to solve problems. I have been a Whyville member since 2/15/2001, and I still love to go on it! Whyville will always be a home for me, and I will never forget it. Whyville helped make me who I am, and who I am, I'm proud of.
